I birdwatch and enjoy formal gardens and poetry, sometimes at the same time. My man card got revoked a long time ago.

I sometimes get caught up in soap operas with my mom and wife around. Hell, I used to watch those as a youngster after school because it was funny watching all the mascara running down Bobbie Spencer's cheeks in the late eighties-early nineties.

But yesterday, after I had to confirm with mom that Maxie's heart transplant was from her cousin BJ, I suddenly realized what I was doing; horrified I went back to cutting wood and almost took off a foot with the chainsaw.

I suspect nobby that your problem was that the poem was not by Kipling, Winfred Owen, or Tennyson. I find that quoting Kipling is never considered to be in touch with your feminine side.

Red I would say you were not being sexist, but you were being a genderist. Of course, if you had explained to the woman in question that you were French and keeping in practice of surrendering by giving up your seat, she would have apologized, smacked you and sat down.

Ah well you quoted and Irishman. No wonder your companions were being idiots.
One should never comment about the feminine side when quoting a Irish poet.

When I do my tours I always quote Ogden Nash but then he appeals to our humor.
