No Friday thread?

Today was my last day of work til the 17th:)

Alice in Wonderland came out today. Anyone going to see it? It looks SO cool, but it's getting horrible reviews.

Tonight I'm gaming - Booze and Bomb night with the guild.

Tomorrow laundry, errands, clean my car.

Sunday fly to Florida. Hope it warms up down there. Hey, here's a question. I'm traveling for about a week. I don't wanna check a bag. Can I possibly pack all my clothes for a week into a carry on?

You?

Tonight I sat watching TV with my lovely.

Tomorrow - She needs new clothes for Spring so I'm treating her to a trip to Selfridges and Harvey Nicholls. Then a night in with books, low lights and probably Mozart or Beethoven.

Sunday - Lunch with her family, then beerathon with friends.

I usually avoid check-in baggage by not taking anything I can buy on arrival. I never pack shampoo/shower gel, socks & undies, t-shirts, razors etc. I stop the cab at a 7/11 on the way to the hotel and buy what I need, and most hotels provide basic toiletries.

Yes.

Take one skirt and one pair of slacks (or variation thereof, if you never wear skirts take two pairs of slacks, etc.).

Take three lightweight tops - a t-shirt, a long sleeved shirt, maybe a light sweater. All of them should look good together and all of them should look good with both bottom pieces.

Fill in the extra spaces with socks and underthings and a bathing suit. Go.

Going to see Crazy Heart tonight, heard it was pretty good. Hoping to get in a bit of golf tomorrow, supposed to be almost 60 degrees here.

Having been too tired the last couple days to unpack and build my new chair, that's on the list for the weekend. Aside from that, if the weather stays decent I'd like to wash and wax my car. Yeah, boring weekend is boring.

Worked tonight, then work tomorrow morning. Nanny's down, so we have a sitter for the kids, and we're out drinking at a friend's house Sat night. Sunday is recovering from Sat night and some furniture moving as well. Assuming the recovering part goes well first.

Last night was dinner and beer with friends at DeClaws and then the 10:20 showing of Alice.

CGI and Johnny Depp were great, the writing so so and Anne Hathaway was terrible as the White Queen, as she pile on the saccharin.

Keep the 3-D glasses on for the being of the closing credits, so to see some of the best graphic effects of the movie.

I also did a little shopping before hand. Pick up Lego StarWars figure magnets for Grandson's 8th birthday today and dug through the the clearance rack at Hot topic with my daughters, where I found a plaid shirt and head scarf in rich blues, purple and black at a price low enough to make having one more flannel shirt worth it. Matching Blue and Purple eye shadow was 0.98$ and the penguin thumb drive was added to my collection.

Today and tomorrow the local thrift store is having a 50% sale on everything in the store, so Jonwin gave me some cash. Since I didn't get home until after 2:30 this morning, I'm not sure if I'm up to walking there and hunting through the racks. My hip started hurting last night while walking around the mall and then having to stand in line to get seats at the theater. 10:20 Showing was sold out and we got in line early enough to get good seats.

Rest of my weekend will be spent resting and some time in LOTR:O.

Yeah, yeah. I was busy yesterday.

Anywhoooo, last night the Mr. and I watched Mad Men and chilled out. Today both kids had soccer and I have to go to a baby shower this afternoon. Tomorrow is a yard work day, and bowling with the kiddos in the evening.

And I have 6 weeks to go with the bun. Wee!

I saw it yesterday and thought it was quite good. I am not a huge fan of the whole 3D thing but all in all I like the movie. I can see how people who liked the novels wouldn't be huge fans of the movie, as much of the fairy tale references are left out and those that are there have changed dramatically. The story line and references to the entire story as a game of chess have largely been altered but viewing it independent of the book it was quite a good movie.

The reviews make it sound like you're watching someone play a really good video game.

Saw Crazy Heart last night, it was pretty darn good. I thought Jeff Bridges did an excellent job, cool to see him get an oscar nod for it.

Also, I think Maggie Gyllenhall is very hawt. Seeing her in anything is good.

My Sunday has now been reprogrammed Smiley: mad

After Sunday lunch with her family (which I do enjoy), my "watching footy in the pub with the lads" will become afternoon tea with g/f and her friend who's in-between filming her TV show in Canadialand.

So instead of slurring encouragement to a TV screen across a boozy bar, I'll be fixing a grin at the babble about wedding make-overs and fashion for the over-40s Smiley: glare

Pity me

Since this weekend featured some rather nice weather (fifty degrees and sunny) I did a bit of outdoor work.

Saturday I did an oil change, then cleared up some of the trees and branches that fell during the past month of snowstorms. Had to patch up the wood storage racks and the sawhorse since there were a few very heavy, waterlogged logs to get cut up.

Today I started to dig up the snowbanks lining the driveway and reclaim all the gravel that got pushed up by the snowplows. Thom was out with me, so I got out the basketball and the unmounted backboard so he could shoot hoops.
