A better understanding of WHY it is cowardly morons and slack jawed yokels vote GOP would help us win those votes in the future.

Because GOP leadership makes them feel safe.
Because GOP leadership doesn't make them think to hard about issues.
Because they believe GOP leadership will make them do better economically.
Because GOP leadership makes them feel less scared.
Because they believe that GOP leadership is more patriotic.
Because the GOP will keep them safe from the heretic, the alien, the unclean

Hehehehe.... Varus be crazy!

I heard someone talking today about how McCain was way too liberal.

Apparently they do.

Now let's take this a step further. If a "scientist" is wrong about one thhing then it stands to reason he could be wrong about others. Is that not so?

I think you know where i'm going with this.

Nowhere, unless you meant you're going on the Idiot Express. Being wrong about one thing doesn't mean you should assume he's wrong about everything. Do you discount everything Jefferson ever wrote because he was a slave owner?

If you wanted to actually discuss the methodology of the study and where you think it's in error (as people did with his race/poverty study) then go for it.

Personally, I don't give a shit about the study one way or the other but it seems pretty important to you guys.

It sure doesn't help his credibility, unless you're a democrat who love a well spoken idiot.

A better question is do I question everything Jefferson ever wrote; the answer is of course YES.

This is a good start. Just question every source rather than only ones that you dislike.

But you don't immediately discount it outright, correct? Instead you (in a perfect world, I know you don't really do this) investigate it, try to get a grip for why it's accurate or inaccurate, etc. And yet you want to discount this guy's study based entirely off criticisms of a completely different study and an unfounded presumption that he's some liberal elite riding a wave of affirmative action to get his degree.

You posted saying that: "Like say, if the really really smart people are conservative, with a larger group of only 'slightly above average' people being liberal, and a slightly higher percentage of dumb people being conservative? That is almost certainly the case." I quoted this statement and challenged it, citing studies showing that many liberals were well over "slightly above average".

And I didn't respond to that post.

I never quoted your precious "scientific fields" comment -- I quoted exactly what I originally wanted to reply to.

Then Catwho said something about softer sciences tending conservative and I responded to that statment with another quote linking to a study showing that soft science disciplines were liberal/Democrat dominated and added a "by the way", posting the Pew graphic to follow up on my earlier post.

Yes. And it was this part to which I disagreed. Great to see you noodled out what I was talking about.

Cat was specifically responding to my statement about science and engineering fields leaning conservative and agreeing with it. You presented the Pew study data to refute that. I then showed how the Pew study didn't actually refute the original statement that I made which started the whole thing.

It's nice that you want to argue against a different statement and all, but the one which started us down this path wasn't that first part of my earlier post. Get it?

Then you should problably stop pretending you have any clue at all as to why I'm saying what I'm saying. You've already proven to everyone that you're incapable of understanding it, why embarrass yourself further by proving you don't even understand what I was replying to?

The rest of your post... well... it kind of backs up the whole bit about why you should stop embarrassing yourself Smiley: laugh

Well... Why don't we just start back at the basics then?

Agree or disagree: Most people working in Science and Engineering fields lean conservative politically.

Can you answer that? Cause that's what Cat and I were saying, and you seemed perfectly eager to respond then...

Wow. It's like you're able to flail about and hit the keys in an order that forms words and yet you have absolutely no actual skill at literacy what so ever. If you were a monkey, I'd chain you to a typewriter and have my copy of Hamlet before the week's end. Good show!
