Thief, what is your occupation and age?

24 in about 3 months and my occupation? Well you see I'm an "Evil Republican" I hate poor people and push orphans in the mud on the weekends so of course I am a..........

Paramedic.

And you are really gonna love this, before I was a Paramedic I was an EMT and did time on an ambulance and in the ER where I got cussed at, spit on, hit, kicked and puked on for slightly above minimum wage and while working my way through paramedic school I worked as a respiratory tech where I drove into some of the worst ghetto's imaginable in east Oakland and San Francisco and treated patients that ranged from dirt poor to multi-millionaires.

Before my wife became a nurse she was an EMT too. She also went into many of the worst areas around here, but she was warmly welcomed, thanked, and praised. Some of the people she helped still keep in touch and send cards and small gifts for the holidays. She didn't get paid a dime for doing this, she was a volunteer with the local Fire Department. I guess the reaction you get from people has a lot to do with how you treat them.

I completely agree. I met some of the coolest people imaginable doing Respiratory Therapy (A guy who left home at 12 and worked most of his life in the coal mines, a women who saw Elvis in concert 10 times and a guy in Oakland who has the biggest **** collection I have ever seen it literally takes up an entire room in his house)and I still get Christmas cards from most of my old patients.

And I have nothing but the utmost respect for nurses but being puked on, spit at, hit, kicked and cursed at has nothing to do with how you treat people. (People who are hurt scared and injured have a tendency to lash out at the nearest person)Believe me I've had people call me some of the worst names out there and a few days later write my partner and I a note thanking us for saving their lives and I had people I've saved who could care less if I saw tomorrow. (My old training officer actually got threatened with a lawsuit for breaking someone's ribs in the process of doing CPR on them)

Not surprising. Not as interesting as the multiple studies that have shown that conservatives are pretty much panicky terrified pussies. If you're really easily frightened it's hugely likely you vote GOP.

Thats a warped definiition of 'cool' you've got there, I must say.

Then again, you're 23 years old, and WTF does a 23 year old know about anything?

Fuck all usually.

Obviously there are stupid people who aren't religious as well, as I'm bothering to respond to one of them.

Dude, I didn't need a study to confirm that liberals are godless elitists that don't get any tail outside of marriage. (Okay, so I'm agnostic, which most very religious people consider to be as bad as atheists.)

Still, feels nice to have it confirmed.

Unfortunately, it's an evolutionary dead end. Because I'm intelligent enough to uncouple myself from my primal need to reproduce, I'm ensuring that my mega IQ and compassionate heart don't continue down the genetic tree.

Oh well, sucks to be your kids and grandkids!

Anyone who claims to be "very religious" and thinks being an agnostic is as bad as being an atheist is either lying about being very religious (and is insecure about it) or is an idiot.

At least you accept that there is a higher power, whether or not you agree that said higher power is interventionist or not.

No, that's not what agnosticism is. I mean, there are several types, but I've never heard that definition at all.

Also, that's not true. It's perfectly possible to be very religious, where very refers to the strength of one's conviction, and not view atheism or agnosticism as bad at all. It's also possible to believe both are equally awful. As the old saying goes, a heretic is someone who shares most of your beliefs.

You've never heard the definition of agnoticism as, in effect, "there was a God, and now He doesn't bother with us"?

Odd.

Odd.

That's one version of Theism or Deism.

Agnosticism is when You think that there is no proof one way or another that there is a God, or not. Or you haven't made up your mind as to whether there is a God, or not. Or you are keeping your mind open as to whether there is a God, or not.

Basically, it's sort of the halfway position between Atheism and Theism/Deism.

If someone "Very Liberal" averages 11 points higher than someone "very conservative", I wonder how a socialist stacks up against a Tea Bagger...

I reject organized religion, but I don't reject the possibility of the existance of God. After all, something had to cause the Big Bang. I like the "boiling pot of water" theory of universe creation. In that case, God would be the water in the pot.

Oh yeah, that averts the collapse of causality.

Because God hates indecision.

Theres nothing wrong with changing your mind later if the evidence either way should change.

Well well, here's where I plan to do my part to further society. Though, I do not consider myself an atheist - I find atheism just as ignorant as Christianity. Agnosticism means you just do not care about spirituality, which is a little sad, but I understand how left-brainers can choose to ignore that part of existence.

Damn, my kids are gonna be some crazy *** flower-children. I guess, at least, they won't be crystal children.

If there's one thing God hates more than indecision, it's flip-floppers!
