When cooking a meal for someone, what's your specialty? Mr. Tare and I have been trying to cook one special meal a month for each other and March is my month. Doesn't have to be really fancy as such, just something you wouldn't make everyday. He did Beef Wellington this month and it was fantastic!

Lasagne with layers of mushroom and spinach, as well as bolognaise sauce and the beschemal/mozerella thing.

Nobby is going to ream me up the **** for this recipe. Smiley: grin

It's not what I post. It's not who I hang out with. Oh no, for Nobby, it's how I cook. Never the twain shall be reconciled.

My favourite dish to cook is a nice Rib-Eye steak, with bernaise sauce, and gratinated potatoes (Gratin Dauphinois).

Heaven.

I was thinking of trying Ramsay's SP recipe. I love me some peasant food.

I have a receipe for my grandmother's lasagna that I pull out for my husband's birthday. I don't like lasagna much, so I don't make it all that often. But I try to make it for his birthday at least.

If my husband is cooking a special meal for me, he often makes pasta in his special alfredo sauce, usually with some kind of seafood...or chicken. He sears, peels then sautes bell peppers, smooshes up garlic, grates much zest from the lemon, adds fresh dill, and uses heavy cream - all the good stuff.....It's awesome.

My daughter claims my signature dish is, um, scalloped potatoes and ham. But that's cuz it's her favorite.

I made this tequila-lime shrimp pizza a couple weeks back (recipe about 1/2 down this page). It was a hit.

Chicken Parmigiana.

Apparently my specialty is nachos though. I get asked to make nachos at any gatherings because apparently other people can't add anything more than cheese and salsa themselves, but that's neither here nor there as nachos aren't really a meal.

My favorite dish to cook is chicken curry with potatoes and brown rice. Yum! As far as what people expect of me, I'm the official pie-and-cinnamon rolls maker for my family during the holidays. Grandma bestowed this wonderful responsibility on me. I hate making pie crust, but man is it 1000x better homemade. I don't mind making pies in the summer, though, because that means I can make rhubarb. Smiley: nod

I don't really have one. I'm not one of those cooks who believes in "following recipes" and "writing things down" so that I get "reliable results". I'm more of a "let's see what's in the cupboard that isn't full of moving things that I can match up with something else that hasn't gone too fuzzy yet" kinds of cooks.

Salmon with rice/pasta and veggies.

It doesn't really matter what you cook the salmon with as long as it has olive oil and garlic on it.

Depends. Spring through Fall, if I have time, my go to is barbecue. Not grilling, not burgers or hot dogs, barbecue. I do pulled pork, ribs, brisket or something else I can get smoke in to and slow cook for all day. Tie it together with some wicked slaw, grilled veggies and taters, I'm in there.

For my wife, risotto. Usually something with saffron and shrimp.

Broccoli cheese soup, or chicken-corn chowder, with salad and fresh baked bread.

I make kickass soups.

Onion-cream Enchiladas. They rock.

And steak diane blows so hard. Ridiculously easy to make though.

Angel hair pasta with veggies and shrimp, Italian sausage & bean soup, fried rice, pancit, Sotanghon, adobo, steaks marinated in a teriyaki marinade, risotto.

Really depends on who's eating and the occasion.

I'll be right over... Where can I park this truck?

Wife does the cooking... My go to is a pbj, or Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. Boring yet satisfying.

If we're having a special meal, then it's gonna be good old steak, baked potatos, and tumeric stir fried onions. Hearty and tasty.

However, my "go-to" meal on busy days is soup. I use the Knor vegetable cubes, and either chicken, beef, or fish bullion along with it depending on the type of soup. (Fish bullion being Japanese dashi stock. Yum.) I get a bag of frozen vegetable soup veggies, toss em in the pot with 4-6 cups of water and the soup stock, and toss in a pack of udon or some spaghetti. Then I pan sear the meat/chicken/fish, chop it up finely, and toss it in. Very simple and very tasty.

Two words, Chicken Delight. Basically it is seasoned chicken breasts on a bed of rice with a honey and cream cheese glaze. Pair it with a side of broccoli and cheese and your golden. I would share the recipe but I'm not feeling very generous today. :P
