So apparently, Gordon Brown (Prime Minister of the US's 51st state for you ignorant folks) is a bully. Some guy has a book to sell and so he made those accusations, and everyone has jumped on the bandwagon because it's election season and who doesn't love to be in the media nowadays?

Quote:
The cabinet secretary, Sir Gus O'Donnell, was tonight under pressure to launch a formal investigation into Gordon Brown's treatment of his staff after an anti-bullying helpline revealed it has received several complaints from people working at No 10.

It follows publication by the Observer journalist Andrew Rawnsley of hotly- disputed allegations about Brown mistreating staff, including assertions that he swore at staff, grabbed them by lapels and shouted at them

I'm not sure I buy this whole thing. I'm sure he shouts and gets angry at members of staff, but it's a high pressured job, and I'd be surprised if other heads of state never shouted at their staff.

The really piece of media golden nugget in all this was this recreation of the incidents alledged in the book, made by some Korea TV programme. I've never noticed the similarity between Gordon Brown and Jack Bauer before. My favourite bit is surely the one in the car where he fantasises that punch. Awesome Smiley: lol

I like the one where he pushes the woman out of the way to get at the laptop. There was also a Tiger Woods one that was hilarious.

Still, I have a hard time believing any Englishman is a bully on account of their girlishly cultured speech.

This entire debacle dissapoints me.

Labour should be being ripped apart right now for its economic missmanagement, its costly red tape initiatives and its failure to meet its election pledges/promises.

While we concentrate on this pathetic drama, we are not discussing the core issues that truly affect the political landscape. I'm really dissapointed in both Clegg and Cameron for even responding to this nonesense. What are the Conservative and Liberal agendas? I have no idea, all I see is mud slinging, hardly inspirational ... Smiley: oyvey

Compared to a real bully, he's a wuss.

To be fair, compared to some of the men on that list, most action movie heroes are complete wusses.

I beg your pardon? 10 years of high growth interrupted only by the biggest financial crisis the world has seen in 70 years is "economic mismanagement"?

People tend to blame the party in power at the time for little mishaps like that. Fair or unfair, it happens.

We got BO.

Hey, that works. He stinks as a president, His namesake stinks in my armpits.

Nice.

10 years of squandered growth. Remember that Labour came to power with a healthy economy handed to it.

Prudence? haha.

Now, saying all that, I doubt the Liberals or the Tories would have done that much better, but I'm afraid I will point an accusatory finger at the PM who claimed to have solved boom and bust, claimed to be prudent and yet failed to see or stem the economic crisis from occuring and has seen us in the largest deficit position since the last war.

But really, we should be talking about policy and a way out of recession, not about an illegitimate Prime Ministers bullying of staff (true or not).

The economy lags behind policy, but not that much.

By the laws of this country he is legitimate.
