A poll without a question breaks the formatting. Also, it helps if you can spell "question" correctly.

Context? I'm guessing you and Flea needed a reason for make-up sex.

Nah, Flea considers Argentina to be France Lite. If it moved to Europe, I don't think the rest of Latin America would miss it.

Except that Chile might get washed into the sea.

Oh, but context. Well, it's in the news because the UK is drilling for oil there and there might be sizable deposits. Argentina is trying to place restrictions on shipping traffic in its waters. Hugo Chavez is trying to make himself a part of it just because he's Hugo Chavez.

...And that is about all you can say about that.

Most Latinos want Las Malvinas because it's easier to say and we love pissing Europe off (as I'm sure you Johnny Rebs understand), but we also look down (up? They are usually taller than us) our noses at the whiny cnuts in Argentina and would love to see them get dorked over.

No way Argentina is going to endanger its tourism revenue or beef cattle by making the sort of fuss Hugo Chavez wants. He's way too dark for them to give two ***** about his opinion.

All it takes to answer this question is to look at where the Malvinas are on a map.

There's a reason they call Buenos Aires the Paris of Latin America.

It reminded me more of Barcelona when I was there.

It's a shame, because had they not found oil in the Malvinas, the islands would've probably been given back to the Argentinians eventually. But now that they found oil, the likelihood of it returning to the Argentinians is pretty much zero. I predict a lot of fussing and shouting from the Argentinians, and maybe a couple of penguin suicide-bombers, but that's it. I don't think anyone in Argentina has the stomach for another armed conflict.

Argentina isn't the one pushing for it. It's that nut Chavez. He wants to be able to unite Latin America into a EU-sort-of power, but shouts down anyone who opposes his POV.

Maybe. If it wasn't for the oil, the Malvinas are not all that useful. Sheep and penguings don't matter that much to the UK.

I heard Christina complaining about it too. And I think she has a point. There's no way those islands should be British, and Argentina sure could use some of the money from the oil.

Hmm, on second thoughts, so could Britain. Oh well, long live the Falklands!

The people of the Falkland Islands swear loyalty to the British Queen and a few of the islanders died during the war whilst wanting the islands to remain British, there are probably more British Flags on display in Port Stanley than most towns in the UK and there is a large war memorial detaling the 250 or so British soldiers who gave their lives so the islands might remain British before oil even became an issue. And the islanders speak English. The Falkland Islands are British.

Ok, darling. I see your point. And let me just say, you look wonderful tonight.

Having said that, look at where the Falkand Islands are on a map. What kind of business does Britain have there, darling? By the way, did you see my tie anywhere? Ah, thanks darling. Now where was I?

Ah yes. So let me get this right. Britain invaded the place, brought a bunch of Britons in from the mainland, and build some memorial following a war, and... therefore the place is British? Are you fucking kidding me, darling?

Where do I start with the amount of factual errors in your post sweetheart? I'll try and keep this short and sweet so as not to bore, but to, you know, get the actual truth across to you.

To begin with the islands were never originally claimed by Argentina, and at about the same time in the 1760's different parts were claimed by the British and French, you know, by explorers and what not. And at that point the Spanish (later occupants of Argentina) invaded the British colony, almost precipitating a full blown war until a peace treaty was signed. The point being that Britain, even then, had a legitimate claim to the islands.

A number of skirimishes took place over the years with both nations laying claim to the islands.

Then in 1914 the Royal Navy built a settlement at Port Stanley in the islands, that would be the British Royal Navy sweetheart in case you got confused and thought I meant an Argentian settlement had been made. The settlement was populated by Britons and has continued to be by their descendants and other ex-pats.

If you read none of the above read this: On 2 April 1982 Argentina invaded the falkland islands, and the British colony at Port Stanley was overrun. The UN called on Argentina to withdraw, which surprisingly they ignored. The British sent an expeditionary force to retake the islands, after a number of naval and air battles, the British landed on the islands and fought a land war. 255 British servicemen died taking the islands back after they had been invaded by a foreign force. Those same servicemen remembered in the memorial you so easily dismissed. If you want to understand why Argentina invaded, it was not because of the land but simply came down to the the military junta ruling Argentina seeking to maintain power by diverting public attention from their countries economic and social problems.

Read the paragraph above again, understand it, do some research yourself then post an actual reply in which you know what the f*** you're talking about. Sweetheart.
