Ah yes. So let me get this right. Britain invaded the place, brought a bunch of Britons in from the mainland, and build some memorial following a war, and... therefore the place is British? Are you ******* kidding me, darling?
Where do I start with the amount of factual errors in your post sweetheart? I'll try and keep this short and sweet so as not to bore, but to, you know, get the
actual truth across to you.
To begin with the islands were never originally claimed by Argentina, and at about the same time in the 1760's different parts were claimed by the British and French, you know, by explorers and what not. And
at that point the Spanish (later occupants of Argentina) invaded the British colony, almost precipitating a full blown war until a peace treaty was signed. The point being that Britain, even then, had a legitimate claim to the islands.
A number of skirimishes took place over the years with both nations laying claim to the islands.
Then in 1914 the Royal Navy built a settlement at Port Stanley in the islands, that would be the British Royal Navy sweetheart in case you got confused and thought I meant an Argentian settlement had been made. The settlement was populated by Britons and has continued to be by their descendants and other ex-pats.
If you read none of the above read this: On 2 April 1982 Argentina invaded the falkland islands, and the British colony at Port Stanley was overrun. The UN called on Argentina to withdraw, which surprisingly they ignored. The British sent an expeditionary force to retake the islands, after a number of naval and air battles, the British landed on the islands and fought a land war. 255 British servicemen died taking the islands back after they had been invaded by a foreign force. Those same servicemen remembered in the memorial you so easily dismissed. If you want to understand why Argentina invaded, it was not because of the land but simply came down to the the military junta ruling Argentina seeking to maintain power by diverting public attention from their countries economic and social problems.
Read the paragraph above again, understand it, do some research yourself then post an actual reply in which you know what the f*** you're talking about. Sweetheart.
