I was hating the US before it was cool.

Had to acquire a time machine to pull it off, of course.

Back to 1777 we go, Sherman!

Since I moved to the state that Canada would be annexed to should we ever grow tired of its attitude.

Did you see any coverage from the Mavericks last week?

Yup. Its funny. It doesn't look so big on the TeeVee, but in RL I went there once for a look. It was about 12 -15ft and theres no way on Earth I would've paddled out there.

Its a gnarly, cold, dark, beast of a wave for sure.

Google 'Shipsterns' for a look at our Southern Ocean equivelent...

Without Miller this game would've been a killing. You can still be happy about it but don't think that you guys will go anywhere in this tournament. If you don't get to play Canada again when it actually matter, you'll get steamrolled by the Russian or Sweden or Finland or the Czech.Take your pick.

Russia likely. The rest aren't likely to steam roll the US though.

Maybe not steamrolled but I don't think they have what it takes to beat any of these teams. Well, maybe Finland. I was not too impressed with the way they played against Sweden last night. The Russians are scary!

Waaaaahhhhhh.

In the end, 2 things matter.

1) I win all my No Canada Gold bets. I'm buying a new rig in March. :)

2) The U.S. beat Canada. Suck it.

Sorry to crush your dream there but Canada is still in the tournament and the U.S might have to beat them again assuming they both make it far enough to meet again. Don't pre-order that rig too fast.

I'm sorry, how does that remotely impact what I said? We beat Canada. Suck it. I hate to burst your bubble, but you're not smart enough to continue this. Stop now while your future children don't have to be embarrassed for your legacy.

I'll make you the same bet I offered here (it's a discount for the little people): $50 says Canada doesn't win Gold. The couldn't beat the U.S., they barely beat the Swiss, and they crushed Norway.

Norway.

Nice work there on that one.

Now they have to beat Germany just to get the opportunity to lose to Russia.

We have to go through (most likely) Switzerland, again. We wouldn't have to face Canada again until a gold medal game. The worst challenge we could face before then is Nick Backstrom. When he gets hot he's scary. I know, I see him a lot.

You can rosy this up all you like, I love the road the U.S. has to take to a potential rematch.

Either way, Canada had to go through Russia to win gold. Whether it's in the semi's or whether it's in the gold medal game itself is irrelevant. The only difference is instead of gold or silver as a rsult of playing Russia, it's gold medal game or bronze at best. Either way, I'd be surprised to see us win gold. There's no heart out there right now. They should play Fleury and hope he gets hot, because we're only winning by riding a hot goalie and he's the best of the 3 when he's hot.

Why the hell aren't they playing Luongo after the first game? Did I miss something? Agree with the lack of heart statement, Ugly. Seems like every player for himself out there. I sure hope to see a better power-play next game.

Also,

Trash: talked

I'd be interested to know who talked trash about the US team. An actual player? Random Canadians don't count. If anything, I heard more trash from the US side. Was it Kesler that was even quoted as saying "we hate them (team Canada)"?

They should hate us. We're like the Yankees of World Hockey- perennial favourites, overstacked, sometimes over-hyped, and if there were payrolls, triple everyone else.

Hahaha Oilersnation. Smiley: thumbsup

At least we're playing Luongo tonight, hopefully he can get warm for tomorrow.

Nabokov played terribly. A few of those goals should have been routine saves.

Still, a very exciting game. This sets the stage for a dramatic Canada-USA gold medal rematch.

That game was fun to watch, if you're a Canada fan. :/

Seriously, though, I watched the first 90 seconds and knew how it would end. I left just after the Boyle slew foot. Good to see Canada figure out a goalie again. I figured Germany was, well, Germany. But anyway, yeah, I am looking forward to a good result from the U.S. and Canada tomorrow to set up the Gold Medal game.

By the way Tare, I was referring to me as being the trash talker (Though I loved Kesler's comments. Smiley: grin)

After last night's Ovie nap I'm disinclined to speculate on anything anymore (an getting my wallet ready, just in case...), but I have to think Canada is hugely favoured over Slovakia, no? On the U.S. game, I will be totally disappointed if Finland wins, but I will be consoled in the fact that Mikko Koivu gets to play for a gold. He's the #1 center for the Wild and I have a man crush on him.

I take nothing for granted. Canada may come out and flounce about like a bunch of pansies for all I know. I have to think we'd have an advantage over Slovakia but, much like the Germany game, I'll be sweatin' a bit.

I think I'd be more nervous to play Finland. :)
