You know, that's an interesting point. I think one of the reasons I've always loved reading, and reading fantasy and alternate-world history in particular, is that I have no problem at all suspending belief.

I can ignore what I know and accept what the story requires me to accept at will.

The down side is that I am very susceptible to suggestion.
