The problem is how the situation was handled. After listening to his Smodcast, I can see where he's coming from. While his contention is that he can safely fit in a seat with his seatbelt buckled and the armrests down (which would seem to me to be acceptable), the fact is that they basically pulled him off the flight after he was already seated. Not to mention the fact that apparently after he got on the next flight, which was his original one with his two seats, they nearly did the same thing to the lady that had the 3rd seat in his row. Even though he had purchased an extra seat so they had an empty between them, they pulled her off the flight and told her that in the future she would have to buy 2 seats, and that she would have to ask him if it was cool that she took up some of that empty seat.
It seems to me that SWA needs to train their employees on this policy, and more importantly how to handle it with customers. How to deal with it professionally, and more importantly with respect.
Also, I'm of the opinion that the seat spacing is ridiculous anyway. I'm the same size as Raolan, and I too have difficulty fitting in coach. Not that I can't fit in the seat as far as my *** goes, but my shoulders, arms, and legs. They really need to design planes with more comfort in mind for the average person. The average person in this century, not from 200 years ago.
