Hawkwind.

Masters of the Universe. Stonehenge. Mushrooms. British festivals. Say no More.

I first heard them in the 70's, saw them 27 times in the 80's, and still listen to them every week. They rock more than any other band. Evar!

Band: Crosby, Stills and Nash
Song: Southern Cross
Why: It's not so much it's musical qualites, though it's a beautiful song, but it has kind of followed me through life, popping up in unexpected but memorable instances.

Band: Jethro Tull
Song: Songs from the Wood
Why: This band, and this song, during my adolescent years, affirmed that Englishness still holds a value.
I got to see Jethro Tull twice in the 70's. Quite the work of art. <3 mpls.

Jethro Tull live footage is awesome.
I also wanted to link Crosby, Stills & Nash - Cathedral here but there's no studio version on youtube and it doesn't sounds as awesome live in my opinion. Smiley: frown

Edit: forgot to add,
Band: Gojira
Song: Vacuity
Why: Because it's awesome metal made by French environmentalist hippies.
Also, the video is brilliant.

Yeah, so I came home last night and realized DSD and I have diametrically opposed tastes in music so really, I'd have to recommend someone I think sucks balls, so here:

Band:Nickelback
Song: Gotta be Somebody
Why: Because I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns and this is the most annoying song ever, so I think you'd dig it, DSD. Also, check out Creed.

Dude! You're really missing out.

And more for giggles.

Edit: Well, it's no fun if you edit it out!

Smiley: lol I realized I wasn't playing by my own game rules so I PMed them to you instead.

Band = Korpiklaani

Song = Happy Little Boozer

Why = how can you not enjoy an upbeat folk metal band that loves to sing about drinking and alcohol nonstop and make an accordion actually sound great?

Saw these guys in concert as well with Tyr and OMG they were just awesome. I was about 10 feet from the main singer and accordionist and they were so funny and very personable.

I didnt ask you to recommend songs that you would think *I* would like. Reading comp FTW Smiley: rolleyes. So put you salsa music in here damnit. Also, I have a wide variety of musical tastes ranging all over the place minus Jazz and most country. I just figured I would throw out here music I know about 99% of you would have never heard before.

Git off yer lazy *** tonight and link something decent.

The only time I enjoyed listening to Nickeback was that one song mashup where they took two songs and played them at the same time in stereo, and they turned out to have the exact same background music with different melodies. Pre-packaged music product indeed. (Unfortunately the URL is broken so I cannot share.)

my face wasnt for the song or genre chosen by joo. I even listened and it's not that shabby as far as jazz goes. It was for the reason you chose it in the first place:

One more!

Band: Les Colocs

Song: Belzebuth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf3yaZOR8Ks

It's an allegory of liberty... It's about a cat named Belzebuth that runs away from its home and discovers love, liberty and ultimately death...
Starts off slow and escalates to a beautifull finish. Instrumental song.
