It's hard to disagree with this quote.

The fact that he uses actual words in the English language is a vast improvement over Bush, when you think about it.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, some of these were quotes from the campaign trail, most of which were likely done after sleeping 5 hours a week, pounding coffees and cigarettes to keep the motor running. It gets hard to stay coherent at times like those.

I wonder if Varus ever posted the oodles of Bushisms during his time in office.

Oh wait never mind I think he was under his desk giving him a good hand job and worshiping him as the second cuming of Christ.

Haha, some of those are pretty funny!

Although the Post Office one is a stretch, as if I remember correctly he was saying that it needs to be redone, just like our approach to healthcare. So yeah, take out the words surrounding that sentence and it might sound silly.

He was saying that having a public option (the Post Office) doesn't necessarily crowd out private competitors. It's a relatively valid comparaison.

Compared to the humor of Bushisms and the intrigue of Clintonisms, Obamaisms are pretty boring.

Except the USPS is in dire straits and they're drastically cutting services and manpower.

I looked up Snopes for the 57 states thing because I remembered it tickling my brain before for some reason; apparently there was some controversy because people were saying "ZOMG, there are 57 Islamic 'states,' Obama's a Muslim, HE'S A-GONNA KILL US ALL!"

Snopes had this to report:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/57states.asp wrote:
The actual intent behind Senator Obama's misstatement is easy to discern without the need to invoke an obscure international organization. He was trying to express the thought that in all the time he had spent on the campaign trail so far in 2007-2008, he had visited all (48) of the states in the continental U.S. save for one (i.e., "one left to go," excluding Alaska and Hawaii), but in his weariness he slipped up and started off with "fifty" instead of "forty." (Note the long pause between the words "fifty" and "seven.")

You liberals are precious. Everytime Obama misspeaks he must be "tired".

Obama's tired a lot isn't he?

I quoted the website... Snopes is a liberal? Your delusions grow stranger and stranger...

Although I would imagine that on the campaign trail he was tired a lot, yes.

The problems with the USPS have as much to do with the rise of e-mail (and electronic billing, bill pay, etc) as anything else. Even junk mail isn't what it used to be, especially catalogs and the like. I wouldn't use the struggles of the USPS as an indicator that some other quasi-governmental corporation can't work. They mainly need to undertake the pains of scaling back in the new diminished market but their basic mission is the same.

As for the statements... meh.
