Uh, the gap between the shoe bomber and the crotch bomber was 8 years. So following this logic to its conclusion, either abortion bombers should be profiled or airline passengers shouldn't be profiled.

A lot of us are saying that it shouldn't be used, considering that many terrorist organizations are now recruiting people that don't look like them, but think like them, such as women, for their purposes.

Well, personally, I'm not saying it shouldn't be used because of that. I'm saying it shouldn't be used because the percentage of people who actually commit the crimes in the race being profiled is so small it's not even funny. Innocent people end up being hurt because of it.

Profiling is an excellent tool in the ******* of law enforcement, however it is also a tool that is all to often mis-applied, and applied in a far to general or broad sense. So while it can't be discarded, I think it's wise to be very cautious when using it. Profiling based simply on race is an obvious example of it not being used correctly.

The example of Ft. Hood and the crotch bomber somehow generating a useful profile is an example of how it can be misused.
