Anyone know what it said?

I'm hearing Palin played a joke on all you liberals and the note actually was a reminder for her to say hi to her mom.

After word got out she was caught with her cheat sheet, she did indeed write "Hi Mom!" on her hand for the final day of Tea Baggery. I give her mad props for guts.

By the by Varrus, were you able to attend the convention since it was in driving distance? Or was the $549 price tag too much of a turnoff?

Incorrect. I have yet to hear a good reason on that one, didn't see how it was a good decision.

She's not my favorite person but I don't go out of my way to find things to exaggerate and hate her for either.

Why would I? Now if she were running for office and had a decent chance of winning I might have considered it.

As for Palin; anyone who evokes that much hatred and anger from the radical left can't be all bad.

Yes the Democrats are. They do happen to have an ex-grand wizard from KKK as member of congress. Democrats are for extreme gun control, something Hitler supported. Democrats are for govn healthcare, something Hitler also supported.

Well, Gbaji defends her. And Varus. And ThiefX and Alexan-whoever and...

I'm not helping my case, am I?

Defending against what I view to be unfair (or just plain silly) attacks and advocating are two different things Joph. I defend your faith all the time for example (and oddly get called a religious fanatic for it, which I find amusing as hell). Some of us are able to recognize when an attack isn't a fair one and are willing to point it out.

It's not like she wrote the answers to a test on her hand or something. They're bullet points she wants to make sure she remembers to cover. I'm frankly not sure why she didn't just write them on a 3x5 card or something, but it's hardly representative of an inability to speak. Is anyone actually suggesting that merely writing a single topic header on her hand eliminates the need to actually be able to say something about the topic off the top of her head? Did she just repeat the words on her hand over and over for 20 minutes each?

I know that the visual makes for amusing mischaracterization, but that's all it really is...

And within his first sentence we have a strawman. Well done gbaji, usually you need to lecture to lecture us for 3 paragraphs before making up arguments!

Er? Going from a discussion about the potential of a Palin run in 2012 to comments about me "defending" her is the strawman, isn't it? The implication Joph is playing on is that since I defend her, it must mean that I would support a run by her (or is somehow evidence that people would, which is equally silly).

For the record I agree that a Palin run in 2012 would be a massive mistake. I don't think she's qualified to be president (any more than I believe Obama was/is), and she's far too polarizing. It's not about picking a "side". I frequently defend things I don't agree with when the argument used is wrong. I know that this confuses those of you for whom decision making is purely about supporting whatever side you are on...

You don't suppose she's getting ridiculed because this makes her look incompetent? Or maybe gives the impression she's not very bright?

Nah, that couldn't be the case.

Actually, the question Moeb asked was whether anyone actually thought (besides people on the far right) that Palin is anything but a "show pony".

Are you saying that Palin is a "show pony" or are you trying to say you're not on the "far right"? 'Cause I want to laugh at the correct thing.

Which in turn was in the context of a discussion about a potential run by Palin in 2012. I mean, I suppose we could pretend that his statement was in reference to her earlier career in communications, or as mayor of whatevertown, Alaska. But I'm pretty sure he was talking about her as a potential candidate for president in 2012...

In the context of a presidential run? She absolutely is. She would be someone who is not qualified for the job, but pushed into prominence purely because of a belief that she could capture the right demographics and if spun correctly could win. Um... Kinda exactly the way I view Obama.

Are you saying that Obama wasn't/isn't a "show pony" as well?

Do you really think he was/is qualified to be president? Or was chosen because he "shows well" in front of an audience? You made a remark about how ironic my statement is about judging based on truth rather than sides, so let's see if the real irony is reflected by your position...

No, in context of US politics as a whole. I'm not asking exclusively about the 2012 election no matter how hard you want to drive the question there because it'll be easier to answer.

Absolutely.

That was pathetically ham-handed even for you but I've defended my views and reasoning regarding Obama's qualifications numerous times during the last campaign season so don't see any reason to rehash them again. I'm secure in my answer.
