On a side note, I was pleased that my friend Mike Risinger got the nod for 10th Judicial Circuit Judge.

I'd put the safe money on Giannoulias but I think Kirk will be a solid opponent.

I've heard some Righties lament that the Mass. election happened so early. The Democrats will have a sharp eye on Illinois and, if Kirk closes the gap, it won't be going unnoticed and unheeded until the week before the election.

I really just don't care for Giannoulias personally. I flirted with reading up on Kirk but he swung hard right for the primaries, walking back moderate votes he's made and even courting Palin for a nomination and, politics aside, that's probably made him a non-starter for me.
