There weren't any survivors, and the demons went into hiding. It isn't surprising why Time didn't know about it. Currently they're working on building an army of crystal children to hold back the demons.

Well, that makes sense, as crystal children come about when they let normal children drink from a chalice of demon blood. Standard cult practice, in fact.

Being diagnosed as "gifted" as a kid doesn't mean you're some magical crystal indigo warrior. It just means that when you're an adult you'll feel like even more of a loser when you can't get a job.

I beg to differ. The best benefit of being labeled gifted as a child is the smug sense of superiority that you can cling tightly to while being mercilessly tormented by all of the stupid kids in class.
