Take your damn snow and go home!
Quote:
WRAL chief meteorologist Greg Fishel said he "can't stress how unusual" it is for a winter storm watch to be posted so far in advance.
“It does appear that we are going to have a significant winter storm at the end of this week and into the weekend,” Fishel said.
The Triangle and areas north could see several inches of snow, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze

Now that I have been away from the constant freezing cold and non stop snowfall for over 2 years, normally this would be pretty cool. I even have sleds ready and waiting to go. However, I've got an 80's themed party to go to Saturday night and I'm supposed to wear this and this and I look hawt in them and I want an excuse to wear them out in public! Smiley: mad

There'll be more then 4-8 inches if DSD's wearing that.

DSD, get an over coat, that'll allow you to get away with wearing it to the party.

Unfortunately down here, they dont have the equipment to handle 2 inches of snow, let alone what is being forecasted (someone mentioned the possibility of 10 inches? Which really means either rain, 2 inches, or 3 feet). So even if it snows just a little, the party will be iced.

Yeah it's forecasted for Saturday. It's not putting you further away either. Raid day Smiley: tongue

The thing that sucks is I need to go by the store on my way home from work. Not because we're gonna get snowed in, but because I needed to go anyway. I think I might make a sign and pin it to my shirt that says "I needed to come anyway!" Crazy people...

It's been slightly overcast all morning. Now it's pretty gray.

ETA: Inspite of Red www.weather.com says it's supposed to start snowing at midnight tonight for my zip code.

Watching places that don't normally get snow get a huge dump of snow all at once is better than watching Chef Ramsey.

I may just call in sick tomorrow so I can watch the fallout on the news.

If it's really as bad as they're saying, yeah... this should be good for some lulz.

The south is just not equipped for anything more than a dusting.

Seriously. The last time it was really bad that I can remember was about four years ago. It took me three and a half hours to make an ordinarily 20 minute trip. And even then, my car was stuck in a ditch and I had to walk part of the way home.

Indeed. Whats fun is watching the panic prior and then getting nothing. We're not supposed to get any precipitation until tomorrow evening so tomorrows weather reports and subsequent panic attacks across the local net will be entertaining. Fortunately I dont have to go out to buy popcorn. I already stocked up.

Enjoy your shopping trip tonight Nads. Smiley: grin

Are you talking about that time we got about 6 inches in one hour? We were living in Nashville that year. Man, that was crazy. We ended up in a ditch too and my mom had to come get us. She had a Cadillac with that traction control and it was the only thing that would go in that kind of snow. We left work at 10:30 that morning and didn't get home until 4 that afternoon.

I don't know if it was the same time or not, but I think I left work around 11:00 and it was bad. I'm betting this won't be as bad, and my boss already said if it was snowing I could work from home tomorrow.

Heh, "work."

We were forecast "scattered flurries" this afternoon. By 9am there was two inches.

The sun came out, half of it melted. The sun went down, it all froze.

I built a fire, lined the wood stove with soaking wet wood. Almost all that wood already burned away.

This weekend promises to be fun.

Why keep it all up here when we can share the wonders of the white stuff that magically falls from the skies and makes all so pretty.

And then laugh our freakin asses off when you all close schools for 1 inch of snow.

One thing I love about living in Alaska, is the humor of watching the news channels on cable seeing everyone acting it's like the end of the world because a half inch of snow fell and they are looking at closing schools, then driving to work over 2 inches of ice that used to be 8 inches of snow, while watching kids still bundled up waiting for the bus to pick them up.

(btw I drive an '89 Mazda 323 to work. Not a truck.)

My sister, born and bred in upstate New York, moved to North Carolina and gets *pissed off* when two inches of snow closes down everything below the Mason-Dixon line.
