Last year, I went to the Mentawais in Indonesia for a 2 week surf trip.

Heres few photos to warm you up in the depths of midwinter. Bear in mind the water is 30 degrees C, and the air temp about 33.

Our Boat, the Budyadhari.

Gorgeous pictures, Paul! I'm so glad you got out before the earthquake hit. I remember a bunch of us worrying about you.

Ugh. Boats make me nauseous, and I'm not a beach person. I realize I'm in the minority here.

McD's needs to be closer to the dock for the drive-thru.

Wow. There really are tropical islands that look like that?

How big is that island, about 200 yards across?

You can tap it for one blue mana.

You can see other vegetation on the edge of the photo. I'm assuming the island is fairly close to shore and not some dot of land in the midst of miles of endless oceans.

There are 11,000 islands in Indonesia, some ar large, like Java, and some are smaller than this one. We spent an hour or so playing football on one island about 100 metres in diameter with a lone 100 foot palm tree sticking up straight out the middle of it. It hust needed an old bearded guy in a loincloth sitting under it for completion.

this one.
