They are a good way to keep in touch with family and friends who you don't want to talk to on a daily basis.

As long as you're not the facebook/myspace/twitter ***** with 5,000+ friends, they aren't bad.

1. It's a time waster. Stupid quizzes and silly games. Chit-chat.
2. Easy photo upload and album creation with comments enabled. A painless way to show photos from ___ and see what people have to say about them.
3. Yet another place to be cranky and ****** in little time and reach a big audience. Always a plus.

I have a ton of family in Peru I keep up with, not to mention friends from high school and college that I liked, but don't necessarily want to call on the phone and catch up with. The down side for me is the friend-whores. If I haven't met you IRL or at least through a long online acquaintance, I'm not going to want to share pics of myself and my family with you.

I'm on FB pretty regular, but I haven't really mastered or peaked a real interest in Twitter. I don't need all the texts in my inbox.

I use it to keep in touch with family and friends from back home, post pics of the kids and generally waste time. I have gotten a kick out of some of the "friends" that have come out of the woodwork on that site. You just never know who is going to remember you. Haha.

I use it to see my friends post stupid things I can make fun of them for. More material, is never a bad thing.

I used it until they fucked with how the incoming messages are arranged and now I've lost interest. I maybe look once a week.

I have one employee who, when communicating with me from home, insists on using facebook e-mail. I had to find my site info some time ago to pick up a message from him.

Since then however, EVERYONE, has gotten a fb page. Like others have stated, it's a very convenient, non-committal, way to keep up with distant family and friends.

FB has let me find people from my old high school that I always wondered about but of which I have completely lost track. Sounds like an ad for FB, but it was pretty cool to get to talk to someone I haven't spoken with for 14 years.

I love the security stuff because once my mother figures out how to create an account, I'll definitely want to weed out what information makes it her way. Smiley: lol

It is also fun when the VP of Client Services comments on your FB status... that you posted mid-work day... and she agrees with it.

One of the things that ended up getting a co-worker fired was that she had a bunch of our clients as friends on Facebook, and she was constantly "getting a high score" on Bejeweled.

I enjoy it because I can peruse at leisure and in a glance get a feeling for how my friends and family are doing without having to call them. I hate phones.I'm not heavily into the games like a lot of people are but I have one or two I enjoy when I have a free minute. I've found old friends and had old friends findme that I've lost contact. And I enjoy being able to hide my status and the ability to post on my wall from certain family members without them feeling as if I insult them by defriending them. Although if I gave them access back I would have a whole bunch of fodder for http://myparentsjoinedfacebook.com/

I have Facebook, and a bunch of people friended me (high school buddies, the crew from Riverside, family) as well as MySpace...but being strictly anti-social it's kind of pointless. My wife uses my account for game purposes (Mafia members, Cafe employees, etc)

I have one, and would probably add my other co-workers once I got to know them better. But never my bosses.

But I actually like my co-workers now. And I don't play any of the silly ap games they have on FB.

Noooo. They don't like one of our bosses much, and the other boss probably doesn't know what facebook is.

I don't recommend it, but that's because enough work 'friends' have tattled on each other to me and asked for my discretion that I realize precious few work friendships actually live up to the concept.
