I had several things to say, but then I ate delicious Chinese food instead.

If some asshole had insisted my people from China integrate, I wouldn't have eaten their delicious food and I would be damning that asshole to hell.

That is what I think about Mexicans and their cheap, delicious pastries.

I'm sayin', dude. Integration is for asstards. I need to eat things made by new and exotic people fleeing poverty and persecution.

Not to bring this thread back around to the OP or anything, but I heard on NPR last night that, not only do they want to ban these types of religious clothing in France, they are also saying that exhibiting any type of extreme religious practice can keep you from becoming a citizen.

Not living in France, that seems a bit harsh to me.

French are such snobs.

I wonder what is considered 'extreme'?

Wonder what constitutes extreme religious practice?

I mean, okay, burning witches would be pretty far out there. Ritual human sacrifice in the break room would be a big no-no.

But... praying, for example?

I wondered the same thing, but I figured that since it was coupled with this bill, they must mean wearing a burqua, right?

Since it was mentioned separately from dress issues I assumed the opposite. Only the French know for sure.

Red?

It depends. I reckon that if you're praying in your own house, that's fine, but if you're praying while base jumping from the Eiffel tower, that's probably too extreme. Which is odd, really, seeing as that's the kind of situation people want to pray in most, but that's the French for you.

I have nothing against the French Frenching it up over in France. When I lived in Saudi my family had to observe all local laws, so I don't think that they aren't obliged to do the same. If they object, use the time-honored tradition of dragging the French PM out and beheading him.

No, it's only to do with Islamist extremism. It's very rarely applied. Praying and and the vast majority of religious clothing are allowed. You can pray or think whatever you want. But if you preach a violent version of Islam saying the French state will be come part of the Caliphate, they might deny you the French nationality. That's about it really.
