I went to see The Book of Eli this weekend. If you're given the option to go see it, pass. If you saw something in the previews that made you want to watch it (like Gary Oldman playing a villian once more), then wait until it comes to video.

But is it shinier than Legion (Which looks like it was filmed entirely on Photo-shop Island.)

It seems like everything is a trilogy now. I still haven't seen Avatar and I probably won't until it's out on DVD. Husband isn't really interested in seeing it.

If you've any interest in seeing it, see it on the big screen in 3D. The only reason to see it is for the visual spectacle; the story is as boilerplate as could be and you probably learned the same "lessons" from the Lorax as a kid.

I actually enjoyed Avatar more the second time I saw it with my parents on IMAX. The first time, my sense of immersion from the movie's amazing visuals kept getting interrupted by some of the shockingly bad writing and dialogue. The second time I went I was more prepared, and when they started talking about unobtainium, shock-and-awe and "fighting terror with terror", I just tuned the characters out and focused on the amazing amount of detail in the background scenery, which made the movie much more enjoyable.

We finally closed on our condo last week! This weekend we went to Providence, RI where our real estate agent treated us to dinner at a really nice Italian restaurant. The rest of the weekend was spent packing, moving, unpacking, and making Craigslist ads for things that we don't want to take with us. We had to pay rent in our apartment through the end of February so we have over a month to either move the rest of our stuff or sell it.

I'm pretty sure one already exists.

Oh, and my cable installation was a complete success.

I tried to drill down into the wall where the router is but the spacing wouldn't allow me to cut a large enough hole without some substantial carpentry. So I tried another wall where I used to have a phone line running down. But the fish tape was getting hung up in the insulation and I think a crossbeam in there. Then, after two days of dorking around with it (an hour or two per day), Flea said "Just call Comcast and see what it'll cost to put a cable jack in the office."

SUCCESS!

If they rename it Jophiel's Ava-hard: Tale of the Blue Pussy they can sneak it in, via Fair Use.

Most of the reason it's worth seeing is the landscape and the 3D. It won't be nearly as good on DVD. Go see it!

Yeah, but see... the IMAX theater is like, WAAAAY over there.

No, why would I know that? I haven't been following the film in any geeky sense, it was just a movie I went to go see. None of the reviews I've seen for it mention it either.

As much as you seem to be on the net, I assumed you'd heard it. I think I only heard about it after the fact as well, but with a story this big it's typically assumed. Also, the 3D immersion was amazing, so Nads go see it *at least* in 3D, if not IMAX 3D.

I'll come down and see it and then you, me and your husband can go out for steaks afterwards.

Well, I typically stay out of Tennessee unless I'm just passing through, so I'll leave this one to Joph.
