Paralegal. Been doing it now for going on 15 years. Thinking about heading to law school, but the idea of beginning to practice law in my early 40s is a daunting thought.

My wife is in the same position at a firm that specializes in patent law (she's bounced between being a paralegal and a legal secretary). She keeps talking about going to law school and I keep urging her to apply, but she completely psyched herself out over it after taking the LSAT's once 5 years ago and getting a score that she wasn't happy with (she won't tell me what she got). Her motivation is also hampered by the fact that all the lawyers she works with routinely pull 70-80 hour weeks, and her best friend who graduated from law school a couple years ago still hasn't been able to find a job that pays more than what a paralegal makes. It seems like there are a lot more lawyers out there than there are law-related jobs these days.

Patent law is such a good field to be in. One of the highest paying there are. I did patent law for a couple of years in an in-house legal department and I'd love to go to law firm to do that again.

Yeah. Paralegals can make as much as a junior associate attorney. I'm totally with your wife on why she's wavered on law school. Her thought process is the the same as my own.

6. How you stumbled upon Alla's, now Zam (a stupid name).

Believe it or not, I clicked on a link from the original Sony/Verant EQ site. Alla's used to be a semi-official site supporting the game (I'm sure until they tried to impose their iron will on Alla or something). I posted on the original board before there was any sort of registration required. Then I stopped posting for about a year after registration was required (cause I just couldn't be bothered). Then I registered under the same name I'd been posting under before. At some point, Illia created his beastiary thingie, which used yet another account login. At some point, I wanted to post something about some EQ critter, so I created a login in that system. Years later, they revamped the boards and implemented Illia's system as the standard for the whole site and transferred over existing account names from the old board to the new. That's why I have such a low account number. Oddly, I ran into some weird java problem loading the pages in the old Illia thingie and never did post that important information...

Haven't played EQ in ages, but I stick around to post in the off topic areas for fun. I do still play some online games, but none of them have forums on this site, so whatever...

: Born in Chicago to parents who kept looking for nicer places to live and work. Dad changed careers few times when turn out mom was allergic to steel mills and was getting into politics to escape from us kids. Both Family are a mix of recent Irish and earlier German, English and French looking for freedom to practice the religion of their choice, or worked for those who were. Direct descendant of Miles Standish, John Arden and Priscilla Mullins.

Political leaning:
Radical Liberal, who toned down a lot since her childhood of wishing she could go protest the war like her big brother and sisters. Parents were disappointed they didn't make the Nixon Enemies list, though there friends did. Someday one of us, will ask to see the FBI has a file on the family. Fear is that somehow we didn't draw enough notice to ourselves, even when my Uncle almost got caught hanging a large banner outside of Groton Navy Sub yards.

How you stumbled upon Alla's: I was directed here by some old guild mates from SSI's Goldbox game, Neverwinter Nights on AOL when I started to play EQ back in 2000. I started to check out the old forum and got into a few polictica threads during the election year and been coming here to see what the far right nuts would say next ever since. Kas, if you reading this let TP know I'm still alive but find the politics on their boards have gotten too far on the Right for me to be comfortable.

I think Republicans lean too far to the left, Liberal Democrats have the right idea on certain things (environment, our responsibility to the poor in our culture), and would like to sincerely live my life based on what I believe the Bible says, without turning that into the rabid pit of anti-everything hate it seems to be perceived as in modern America.

Born and raised in Vancouver, WA. 3rd generation Sweedish Imigrant on my Mom's side, Dad's side is basically english and welsh with a bit of scottish thrown in for variety (clan Mcnabb for that portion of it.) That side of the family is particularily in to geneology, and as that particular line ties heavily into the English Royal Family, they've apperently traced it back to around the year 0ish. It basically goes somethign like "king of england, king of england, queen of england, duke of something, king od something, abdicated with a serving wench, and it's been downhill evern since!" (also related to Franklin Pierce)
5. Political leaning
Republican with occasional bouts of liberalism on some issues, and military dictatorship leanings on others.

I played FFXI when I first joined the forums back in 2005. Originally posted in those particular forums and stumbled upon the Asylum without realizing the atmosphere and was promptly chased away. Continued to post when I quit FFXI and switched to WoW, in the WoW forums. Quit for a few years, and then came back about a year ago September, stumbled upon the OoT when I was bored last May and then tentatively poked my head back here. I try and post here when I have time, but your threads get crazy long and I don't usually have time to read 4 page long threads.
