If anything, I've been going back to the classic games (Super Mario Brothers, Mega Man etc), to try and get a foundation for Level Design. Going to hopefully have a working flash game to show off before April.

Two words: David Wenham

(were I a generation or two older, those words would probably have been Robert Redford.)

Age. 44

Career. Anaesthesia Technician. 90% retired these days, so I do a lot of surfing and make things out of glass when I'm not battling to keep the rainforest out of my somewhat extensive garden.

Civil Status. Married to an Indian Princess who supports me in my dotage and gives me long lists of things that need to be done. We do a lot of entertaining.

Geographic location/nation of origin/ethnicity
Born in Malta, raised in UK, travelled extensively for 15 years and wound up living on the West coast of the North island of New Zealand. By the Beach. In a forest.

Political leaning Distrustful of all people (not just politicians) who think they have cause to tell others how they should live their lives.

How you stumbled upon Alla's Was playing EQ and trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to be doing.

Career/profession/trade:
Was a professional musician in the 70s & 80s - hated the industry - quit
Studied modern languages at universities in UK and Spain in 80s. Became a linguist - hated it - quit
Managed leisure facilities in '90s (Hotels, Casions, Bars, Inns) - hated it - quit

Civil status:
Divorced, 2 sprogs, Dracoid (21) & the Noblet (17)
Following having my heart squished, stamped on and broken by an Allakhazam Admin, I've now been in a steady relationship for just shy of a couple of years.

Geographic stuff:
A Lancastrian 1st, an Englishman 2nd, a European 3rd, and of Norman French descent.
Now work almost exclusively in UK. In my current job used to do quite a bit of work in USA & mainland Europe, but I is big and impo'tant enuff to send my minions to do that now.

Political leaning:
Marxist (not Leninist), but a penchant for owning munny and shiny things produced by humble oiks like you

How you stumbled upon Alla's:
Kids started playing Everquest and I chaperoned them to keep an eye out for pervs and Kaolian-types. I discovered Allakhazam, then Dracoid discovered Asylum. The rest, as they say, is Dermatology.

I'm working in the health tech field here in Canada and a bit in the US and was wondering if it was as big over in Europe, as I know not much about it over there. I'm taking a look at NHIN And connect gateway that the US is working on right now.

This. I will lick a redheaded woman like a redhot, but redheaded men are an insult against nature and a general evolutionary travesty.

The exception that proves the rule is of course Eric Stoltz.

Sadly, we find that HL7 in a Canadian accent sounds like a fax machine trying to shout at gnomes.

(Yes we're adopting it as an interoperability standard alongside SNOMED CT - most of Europe is)

Yeah, but quite honestly, I think we've all gotten bored with one another. We need a banjo player.

My wife is in the same position at a firm that specializes in patent law (she's bounced between being a paralegal and a legal secretary). She keeps talking about going to law school and I keep urging her to apply, but she completely psyched herself out over it after taking the LSAT's once 5 years ago and getting a score that she wasn't happy with (she won't tell me what she got). Her motivation is also hampered by the fact that all the lawyers she works with routinely pull 70-80 hour weeks, and her best friend who graduated from law school a couple years ago still hasn't been able to find a job that pays more than what a paralegal makes. It seems like there are a lot more lawyers out there than there are law-related jobs these days.
