Yes.

You realize these two are the exact opposite situation, right? I mean, I'm glad you admit that forcing gays to accept they cannot be married is wrong, but I think you just didn't read what I wrote.

Do you pick and choose which aspects of Christianity are relevant? Do you decide which commandments are good and which are ok to break if you need to?

John 13:34-35 wrote:
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

So varus, you MUST be a virgin, right? Since sex before marriage is a sin and all...

Am I perfect? Are you?

Does that mean because i'm imperfect that I have to accept other sinful acts?

People in glass houses and all...

And yes, I am imperfect and I accept others' imperfections. Unlike you, I don't consider being homosexual to be an imperfection of course.

Nope, but it means you're a hypocrite if you're using that as your basis for not allowing homosexuals to marry while non-virgins can!

(And if you're not using that as a basis, you're just being irrelevant and there was no need to bring it up).

Now you're God, endowed with the ability to gauge sin?

The Bible considers homoseuality to be a sin. I didn't make this up.

Technically isn't it only sodomy? I mean, oral is totally allowed still. And circle jerks. And scissoring (for the ladies).

Amusing as Varus is, his arguments are irrelevant anyway. The Bible could be a notecard saying nothing but "Gays = Bad" and it wouldn't matter. The simple answer is that the Bible should not be the basis for any of our laws. That's not to say that our laws can't ever mirror the various rules in the Bible but that our own rationale should always have purely secular roots. To suggest otherwise is to promote theocracy.

Nadenu,

I'd be more concerned with your own responses. Have you noticed they all have to do with how "YOU" feel about the subject.

I have no idea what you mean. I'm supposed to discuss how Joph feels about this?

Or maybe I'm supposed to discuss feeling Joph.

So confused...

Nadenu,

Actually it was meant for you to think about what the Bible says before spouting of that "you" believe this or that. It's not about "you" it's about what's right. This has nothing to do with your personal views.

Some of us really don't care what the bible says.
