What to do...Follow

So, tonight was the work "holiday" party. The party was held in the function rooms of the hotel I work at & suffice to say, there were a lot of drunk employees running around.

Around 2:30am or so, I noticed a car parked on the Valet line outside the hotel with it's lights on. After it didn't move for a few minutes, I went to the outside facing window to see what was going on. From my vantage point, I could see the driver leaning over to the passenger side, repeatedly. At the time, I thought that perhaps someone had pulled over to do some lines. I decided to move to a different vantage point, & realized that was not what was going on. What I though to be the center console, was in fact the thigh of the passenger. She wasn't blowing lines, she was blowing him.

So, I called security & we went out to move them along.

When I startled the passenger, I realized he was one of my employees. Him & his companion did not stick around to talk. His car was actually on the line, he got in it, & took off. He's due back in to work in a little over 3 hours. The driver used to work here, but she doesn't any longer.

In hindsight, had I known it was him, I may not have done anything. But I did & now I have a choice: I can do nothing, or something. Anything that falls under "something" will most likely result in his termination.

The thing is, I don't like this guy. It's not that he isn't a good worker, it's that he's a horrible co-worker/employee. He's great with guests, but skimps out on tipping out his co-workers. He also treats his co-workers & managers like crap. This isn't new, he's been around a long time, but it's gotten worse as his personal life has gone to hell. Him & his wife have split recently, they have children together, & he's been more of a miserable ***** than usual. If it wasn't for these personal issues, I think he may have been terminated for his behavior. But perhaps because of them, coupled with his Union seniority, that hasn't happened.

So what should I do?

If he's an *** towards everyone he works with, he's either an *** towards everyone he lives with as well (explaining the divorce) or he's making the place hell and needs to find a job where he doesn't have to be civil to coworkers.

I wouldn't fire someone for receiving a blow-job in a public place. But I'd fire someone for being an unpleasant and disruptive co-worker. I don't understand why bosses put up with workers who disrupt the morale of the workplace, or who are otherwise troublesome.

Just to make sure I read that right, he was in the front of the hotel you work at, in plain view of any potential guests and other employees?

Fire him, his family isn't your concern. Illegal activity (depending on where you live) on company ground in the view of customers, his union isn't going to have any defense and crap employees are hard to get rid of if they have any type of union seniority. Take the opportunity while you have it.

If I could, yes. However, it looks like one of the 3 guys we have to cover his positions is about to be canned for tardiness as we speak. If he gets canned too that leaves us one part time guy for 14 8 hour shifts and, potentially, more work for myself & co-managers.

He's also a big guy who likes to fight. I'm not "scared" of him, but that's not because I shouldn't be. My ego just doesn't allow me to be intimidated by dudes.

It can admit that he'd mop the floor with me, given the opportunity, though.

Who cares if he can fight, you're not the one has to fre him and if he shows up on one of your shifts, call the cops. Clearly, he won't be coming in to pick up anything like belongings or paperwork on the back shift, so him showing up would be for one reason only and you can just call the cops on him.

Call him in for a talk, closed door, and do your best job at scaring/intimidating him. Then make up some ******** about someone higher than you breathing down your neck to fire the fool. Try to frighten him and then make him feel bad for being such an *******.

Then get into a life endangering situation.

Have him save you...hold you in his arms.

Make out a little bit.

Buttsecks and one trip to Canada later you two can get married and go on wacky adventures as gay loves/bounty hunters hoping that the next leap...

Will be the leap home.

This sounds like so much chicken ****. You need to get rid of the guy. For all you know he's the reason your other employees have bad enough morale that they're slacking off and coming in late.

I'm a firm believer in the "no aSShole" rule.

Unless his thoughts are that he doesn't care about anyone's thoughts, then I'll fire the ******.

He came in bright & early this morning. I pretended nothing happened. I talk to the boss later.

Omega,

Everythings partisan. If you were a conservative republican you would have fired him on the spot. As it is you're actually considering what you should do. If you're a boss and you walk in on an employee having sex in public view there shouldn't be any question what action you should take.

Since security was called, I assume they are going to file some kind of report or log the call in. You probably have to act on it now whether you like it or not. He may not need to be fired, but some kind of disciplinary action may need to take place.

The Valet line at a hotel sounds like a pretty serious place to get caught, and afaik when attending a company party you are supposed to be representing your company as if you were on duty. Meaning, you can be held accountable for what you do there as it's not really your personal time.

He doesn't work up to standards, is inconsiderate of co-workers and gets (free?) BJs in the company valet line with no repercussions so far. Why would you be laughing at him? lol
