Hey, it hit -33ºF last year!

During which I decided that the difference -33 and -15 was pretty academic except that my car starts in -15 and not in -33. Either way, it's pretty damn cold.

It's the wind that really makes it brutal. Nothing is worse then -30 - -40 degree weather with a windchill that brings it another 10 degrees colder. Damn.

People in Chicago don't know what a block heater is.

I know what one is, it just isn't an issue often enough to acquire one.

That, and I'm sure you don't mind the odd "my car won't start so I can't come into work" day.

I wish that worked for me.

It's against the law in my state to drive in the snow without snow-chains on your wheels.

I don't think they salt the roads here. The residential population where it snows is fairly low. Otherwise it's all the skiers/boarders/tobogganers crawling up the winding mountain roads to the snowfields. Sometimes there are surprise snowstorms in larger regional city-towns closer to the capital, but they don't put more than an inch down or last long.

Winter has been pretty bizzare here in eastern WA. Last year we had around 3ft of snow on the ground at one point. This year its been dry and weve gotten about 5 inches total. January normally has highs in the teens, and the next 10 days is supposed to be mid 30s into the 40s. Feels like spring, hell my grass still has some green spots. Would love to have a little snow on the ground so the kid could actually enjoy it.

Jonwin got call this morning that if there is snow tonight as predicted, he is to report to the Constellation tomorrow morning, to shovel off the deck.

He never parks on our street, unless the weather is beautiful and now that we have a nice car, he won't park on the cross street either if there is any chance of it being icy. Maryland drivers just aren't to be trusted as being able to not hit a park car when roads are wet.

Another thing that ticks me off and is illegal around here is putting chairs out to save your parking space. A friend of mine went around last snow storm and collected all the chairs for Goodwill.

It is illegal to have snow chains in Georgia as well. It is impossible to find snow tires anywhere in the state, either.

We're supposed to be due for an inch or two tonight. I'm not holding my breath.

Haha... the annual Chicago debate over "Dibs". Makes me wish Mike Royko was still around.

Pretty sure they're standard equipment at the time of purchase in all cars manufactured for sale in Canada. Like daytime running lights.

There was a two-hour delay for schools today...for about an inch. Funny thing is, the two hour delay is up but it started snowing again!
