dungon masters at blizzardFollow

#1 Dec 28 2009 at 6:58 PM Rating: Default
Wow, they did a great job.

If EQ or any of the other games had managed to do what blizzard did with thier latest dungon finder patch, they would still be kicking instead of just hanging on by their thumb nails.

The concept of going into a dungon with a small group is sound. the problem has always been the time necessary getting a group together to do it. The ability to have the computer put the group together and not only transport the player to the group from anywhere in the game, but also to transport them across servers for the group is just fantastic.

there is still the issue of no real thought process in the WoW game mechanics, and the "hit them or heal them" game mechanics where everything else just doesnt matter.

But can you immagine this system on EQ? it would open up the other 70 percent of the game 95 percent of the players never saw to the masses. it would have ended the empty low and mid level dungons.

my hats off to blizzard. i hope the rest of them are paying attention.

For reference, Blizzard just added a tool to WoW whereby you're able to queue up to join a dungeon. You state your role in the group and it matches you with players from any server to form a party, then even teleports you to the dungeon. It's pretty nifty, though I don't see why anyone here should care.

Well, I for one am glad, because queuing for/putting together a pug and getting to the dungeon (I mean, what are the chances of having at least two people in the zone to summon you!?) was sooooo rough and time consuming before. Smiley: oyvey

I appreciate being able to instance across servers, but the whole teleport-you-there-automatically thing just seems so unnecessary. But, I do think they did it right adding all the achievements for their new pug system, so at least people check it out.

I won't be. I uninstalled WoW completely to make room for DDO. Smiley: nod

Well, I imagine Blizzard didn't want to spend a ton of developing time on this new tool, only to have the lazy population refuse to use it because they have to trek across the continent to actually reach their dungeon. Plus there is a slight issue with players on different servers not being able to see each other if they aren't in the dungeon proper. Smiley: tongue

Blizzard spent far more time developing all that content that gets skipped when travel becomes not only meaningless but non-existent, though.

It's really typical Blizzard pandering to the lowest common denominator. Socially retarded? Lazy but feel entitled? Hey! We've got a tool for that!

Frankly the only valuable benefit I see is to players on low pop servers who just can't find a group. And fUck them, anyway.

Anyway, doesn't matter to me, either. We quit WoW when we started into Northrend for the second time and I kept waking up at night trying to chew through my own wrists. I went and played some emulated EverQuest on a server that recreates the game as it was in 1999, and then we moved on to DDO, which has thus far been a lot of fun.

Since the OP was sub-default when I found it, I gather he's as exciting as Varus. I don't really remember Shadowrelm from before.

Hi Shadowrelm! []

SR's not really as bad as Varus (at least, from what I've seen)... just not someone you'd particularly want to be in the tower when you're on a plane.
