Oh, Varrus wasn't really looking for "validation". He's just too afraid to respond to the point because, since he already whined and ******* about Obama taking two days, Bush taking six days means he's three times worse Smiley: laugh

Politico points out that no one cried about Bush taking so long and that this "OMG TWO DAYS!!!" thing is unique to whining about Obama.

Eight years ago, a terrorist bomber’s attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner was thwarted by a group of passengers, an incident that revealed some gaping holes in airline security just a few months after the attacks of Sept. 11. But it was six days before President George W. Bush, then on vacation, made any public remarks about the so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and there were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response was sluggish or inadequate.

Figure if you include nothing else for him to latch onto in the discussion he'll be forced to respond to it eventually.

The best part of this is that he'll assume we're criticizing Bush for taking 6 days, because that's the way he thinks, when really all we're saying is, hey, nothing happened, who cares if there isn't an instant public statement, disrupting our holidays. It's probably better this way.

Quote:
U.S. forces, acting on the president's orders, successfully took out Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, the ringleader of a Qaeda cell in Kenya and one of the most wanted Islamic militants in Africa

U.S. forces, acting on the president's orders, killed Baitullah Mehsud, the terrorist leader of the Taliban movement Pakistan

the Obama administration took suspected terrorists Najibullah Zazi, Talib Islam, and Hosam Maher Husein Smadi into custody before they could launch their planned attacks
Yeah, super soft.

No, we're comparing your response to Obama waiting two days to make a statement to your response to Bush taking six days.

In one case, you started crying that Obama was taking too long.
In the other, you tried desperately to change the subject before saying "I bet Bush was doing something though!"

Smiley: laugh

Even his dad said he was a radical Muslim.

And I don't know if the problem is "radical" or Muslim fundamentalists--otherwise, why would the Bushes be BFFs with the Saudi Royal family--a bunch of Muslim fundamentalists themselves. The problem is the violence that is committed by terrorist groups.

Varus has selective hearing, and a filter. Anything that comes out of a non-Replubican mouth is just "I hate America! Long live communism."

So THAT'S why we didn't invade Saudi Arabia to root out the 9/11 terrorists. You know, taking the fight to them. It starts to make some sense now...

We aren't. We're talking about you, and only you. If waiting 2 days to release a statement is bad for Obama, therefore what Bush did was 3 times as bad. Just admit Bush was 3 times as bad at Obama, OR, admit that neither really matter (because they don't).

The only reason I mentioned the timing is because I seem to remember every single liberal in the US deride W for finishing the story he was reading to those children before addressing 911.

That'd be the difference between responding to a successful attack (9/11) and a failed attack (Christmas). Comparing this failed attack to the failed shoe-bomb attack is much more apt.

It was the kids doing the reading. He was only listening.

I don't blame him though, My Pet Goat is quite the cliff-hanger.
