Omega,

Sad you still think liberating Iraq from Saddam was a bad thing.

At the expense of leaving bin Laden, al Qaeda and the Taliban all alive and functioning?

Yeah.

But now that we have al Qaeda targets in Yemen it'll be a good time to go settle the Rwandan genocide.

Ya, worked real well on Iran. And even if ALL the ME leaders decided after our SPECTACULAR performance in Iraq not to fuck with us, it still took away time, $, lives, & resources from the "War" on terror.

Iraq was 'liberated' from Saddam only to be terrorized by Al Qaeda. Only when Iraq can pull together a competent government can the US claim that they've properly compensated the country for the 100k+ civilian casualties & damages.

Regardless, the whole Iraq thing certainly distracted from the whole "War on Terrorism", didn't it?

Actually I think it sent a message to major leaders in the ME not to f*ck with the US.

Major leaders in the Middle East notwithstanding, it sure incited hundreds of thousands of Middle Eastern citizens to fuck with the US. Or do you think terrorist recruiting stopped after 2001 and we're just cleaning up the remains? No, our bumbling mismanagement of the area has spawned a new generation of terrorists.

They were already being spawned. Nothing W did caused them to become more radical. What it did do was send messages to would be terrorists that they would have to face the US military and not simply be able to continue to carry out 911 type operations without repercussions. Unlike Clinton who chose to ignore the muslim attacks on the US W took the fight to them.

Occupying a country where a non-uniformed guerilla force can attack our ground troops from within the civilian population without compunction is not the smartest of moves.

Why do you hate our troops so much?

Waiting to catch terrorists while they're in transit to the US isn't the smartest move. Rooting them out where they live is better than simply hoping none of them get through our security.

Where were the 9/11 terrorists raised and trained, again?

What about their commanders?

Or the most recent terrorist?

Hint: none of the answers include Iraq.

Besides, wasn't the invasion of Iraq for the purpose of removing the WMD threat stealing oil oppressing freeing the population from Saddam?

I'm quite sure after 911 it was the Bushes administrations primary concern for the next 7yrs. And that's why terrorists havn't been more successful.

Hehehe...

You obviously forgot that soon after 9/11, we had the "shoe bomber", another terrorist who only failed because his bomb didn't ignite as it was supposed to and then he was overpowered by passengers. Exactly as happened on Christmas.

And, by the way, that bomb? Happened while Bush was on vacation. Time until Bush addressed it? Six days.

Jophed,

Exactly? You mean CIA officials met with the shoe bombers dad a couple of months before the incident? You're right I didn't know that.

Exactly in that security failed and the only thing that prevented another successful attack on Bush's watch was sheer luck.

I see you were silent about Bush taking six days to interrupt his vacation and respond to the attack Smiley: laugh

No all Iraq did was break the ceasefire from our previous war with them.

So you agree that Iraq was not a terrorist haven before we occupied. Finally you're starting to talk some sense.

I didn't respond to it because you havn't linked anything to validate it; and I'm to lazy to look into it myself.

Pretty easy to me. Incident happened on the 22nd, report was made by Bush on the following friday, which was 6 days later.
