Never been to Knoxville, but from living outside Memphis, I can say it's the 2nd cleanest city I've been too in the US. Cleveland wins that contest from a one day visit when we had one day to kill while my dad pick up a van for the State of Maryland Dept of Aviation where he worked. We went downtown to the shopping district and it look like no one lived there it was so clean outside of May Co. D.C comes in 3th only due to the fact that large parts of it is made all shiny for Congress and tourists.

Cleveland? Ohio? Seriously?

They must have burned the city down and replaced it since I've been there. Though, it has been maybe twenty years so that's entirely possible.

Actually, where I live it's not so bad. Oak Ridge imports people from all over the world to build nukes to kill other people and create chemical weapons and stuff (I mean research ways to make life better). So we have a pretty diverse group here and it's a nice little town.

But yeah, there's lots of scary stuff outside of here.

I am pretty happy over here in Murfreesboro atm. It's a growing city, but it still has that small town feel when it comes to the populace. There are still doctors here that will accept a pie instead of money at times for treatment, and I get to know those that work at the places I go to, chatting up about families and stuff.

I like it all...except for the cold. And those scoundrels countrymen up in the legislature in Nashville.

I've been to Oak Ridge, I really like it. Though, I prefer Bell Buckle to it.

Oak Ridge really has the feel of a large village. Especially the way it's laid out (no city planners when your "town" is supposed to be temporary). And then just a street or two over, it's all "modern". I never thought I'd like living in a smaller town, but I've been really happy here. Nashville will always be my first home, but Oak Ridge has truly grown on me.

And yes, Knoxville is dirty.

To be honest, I rather like the city where I live, even if it is in Texas. It can have a bit of a "boring industrial hub" sort of feel, but there are nice little pockets of the city (I enjoy visiting the museum and theatre districts). Not claiming it to be New York-caliber, but it's not so terrible.

I was in Cleveland back in 1974 or 75. not sure which, but I think they had just rebuilt the downtown district at the time. I'm sure it was filthy a few days after we left.

I love Chicago, but would rather live in the distant suburbs, in the small town of Sandwich Ill, were my father grew up. Not that I expect it to be the same place that I remember growing up and visiting my grandparents. Still it's nice to know that there are still places were saying my grandfather used to be the postmaster will get a out of state check cashed for me.

Plainfield isn't a bad place, either back when I was last out in the area some 24 years ago.

Still I take living in my crime infested, trash covered streets of Baltimore, over most places in the US. For a mid size large city in the USA, it has a very small home feeling somedays.

Just yesterday I ran into a lady who was cleaning the tables at Five Guys in Glen Burnie, who remember Jonwin from when he used to work on the Constellation, while in High School. Seems the crew would go over to Connolly's on Friday nights for dinner every week and she was their waitress back then.

Nadenu,

I was speaking with my brother last night about oak ridge and he had an amusing story. Turns out he's doing some remodeling for a retired genetic physicist from oak ridge. This guy worked at oak ridge for all those years and decides he's going to retire in knoxville. That's the amusing part btw.

So what you're saying is that Knoxville is a retirement community. What were you saying about getting some tail there?

I'd actually like to live in NYC, but not with a young child to raise. If I was still single, sure. Having a family, though, Albany is a better bet.

The few days I visited NYC I really liked it. Not sure about living there, but it was a fun city to go to. Boston is pretty good too.

Probably the city I hated the most would have to be Branson, MO. It's like a redneck Vegas.

You know, Knoxville is... okay. It has good points and bad, like most mid-sized cities. It's nice that people enjoy living there.

It's a pain in the *** to drive in, though, with all those narrow one-way streets.

Sorry. You're all talking about how great your towns are. I can't help but chuckle. I know. It's unfair when you live in perfectville, but I suppose the rest of you can fight over the scraps. ;)

As long as I can afford it.

I like my town. The reason we're unhappy here, however, is because we have Rep Paul Bround and Senator Saxby Chambliss. It's enough to make baby Jesus cry tears of blood.

Wouldn't the sign also have things for earthquake and hurricane as well? (Granted, the hurricane one would be firmly into the five digits.)

Why are you always talking about American politics if you don't even live there?
