Tulip,

Actually I was saying that Obama caters to these classes because he knows they're the ones most easily duped.

You say crap like this about the lower classes and then you have the BALLS to call Dems "elitist?"

It's a fact lower classes, minorities, and welfare cases overwhelmingly vote democrat. For the most part these people are not educated and will vote for whoever promises to give them the most. And yes Dems are elitist. Just because they pander to the lower class during an election cycle doesn't mean they have the best interest of that group at heart. In fact it's just the opposite. The more people that don't need to rely on govn the less overall support the Democrats have.

Man, you are so out of touch with reality. The poorest states - those who comprise the economic lower class, those who are on welfare - are overwhelmingly located in the states that constantly vote red for the majority of elections.

Specifically, the southern states are the poorest. How often do they vote democrat?

I thought so. Care to make any other dumb, easily trounced claims?

EDIT: Just for clarification, when ranking the highest % of people below povery per state, the top 15 are almost all (13/15) red states, with the exception of the lowest on the list (NY) and one swing state (New Mexico).

Of the states with the least amount of poor, the majority (9) of the bottom 15 vote heavily democratic, 5 are republican, and 1 swing state (alhtough thats NH, which typically goes Democratic anyway).

People with PhD's also vote Democratic. In the last election, Obama won every category of educational level with the closest match-ups being "some college" (won by 4%) & "College grad" (2%).

  EDUCATION Ob Mc
No High School (4%): 63 - 35
HS Grad (20%): 52 - 46
Some College (31%): 51 - 47
College Grad (28%): 50 - 48
Postgrad (17%): 58 - 40

Of course, even if the least educated people vote overwhelmingly for Democrats, they also represent the smallest bloc of voters by a wide margin.

Let's look a bit closer at those stats;

EDUCATION Ob Mc
No High School (4%): 63 - 35
HS Grad (20%): 52 - 46
Some College (31%): 51 - 47
College Grad (28%): 50 - 48
Postgrad (17%): 58 - 40

63% of people with no education vote democrat.

Which means that 2.52% of the votes cast were from people with no education. On the other hand, 9.86% were from people with Postgrad education.

Not seeing the issue.

Also, no, that chart does not mean what you said. It means that, of the votes cast, 4% were from people without high school education. 63% of those people voted Democratic.

The vast majority of people without high school education DO NOT VOTE.

Is that supposed to make you liberals feel better?

Again, you're trying to misinterpret it. Of the votes Obama won, 2.5ish% were from those without a high school education. A tiny amount overall. 1.5ish% of McCain's votes were from the same segment.

What makes me feel better is getting you to stop lying. Of course, even your correction is an attempt to misinterpret, but thanks.

Sure. I mean, they have to vote for one or the other so why should I be upset that they voted Democrat? Am I supposed to wish they'd all vote Republican?

58% of the people who voted and who are the most educated (by degree, anyway) in the nation also voted Democrat. Should I worry about that as well?
Quote:
Now let's look at HS Grads who tend to be publicly indoctrinated children who've been taught by liberal teachers, mostly likely with the NEA. The fact that there's only a 6% difference considering most public school teachers are Democrat is amazing in and of itself. Now the most important stat, imho, College Grads were almost the same. Again considering most professors are rabid liberals this stat is amazingly close. And of course we know people doing postgrad work rely on the govn to pay their bills so is there any wonder they overwhelmingly support the party that keeps giving them more money?

So your argument is that everyone should be voting Democrat? Smiley: laugh

The logical disconnect required for Republicans to make this argument in one breath and in the next breath accuse Democrats of being snooty intellectuals who are "out of touch" with the "common man" is absolutely mind-boggling.

We've had this discussion before. It's silly to argue "red state" vs "blue state" in this context because those terms typically only apply to how a state voted in the last Presidential election, which isn't normally a great yardstick to use for this. The condition of an individual state is least impacted by who is sitting in the Oval office. Their Senators matter more. Their House Representatives matter more. Their state legislators matter more. Their governors matter more.

Instead of looking at states, try looking at districts. You might see a different pattern at a federal level.

I'd also venture to say that some of those 4% who voted without having a high school diploma were 18 year olds in their senior year of high school.
