winter in the Northeast.

http://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/region-northeast-weather-forecast_2009-10-09?from=hp_news1

We've got about 1.5"-2" of fluffy snow today, the first (significant) snow of the season. Thom got dressed up i his snowsuit and boots, but didn't want to wear mittens so we only went outside for about ten minutes and threw little slush-balls around. Got a few cute pix.

He needed to sit in the bedroom, wrapped in a blanket with a bottle of nice warm hot chocolate to warm his poor little paws.

How has everyone elses' seasonal weather fared thus far?

This week is the first week here in Missouri it's actually been cold. Last weekend it was in the '70s and I was going around in shorts. Today I was hanging Christmas lights in a heavy coat, stocking cap, and gloves. Brrr.

We had a few flurries this week, but not even enough to dust the ground.

We got 20cm of snow yesterday and will have another 5 or so today.

I'm fine with winter and snow... just not all at once.

We got an inch here today. Pretty good for Tennessee in the first week of December. It's all gone now, though.

Its been downright balmy in Wisconsin all through Fall, first snow was on Thursday.

Should be a foot of the stuff on the ground by now I say.

Yeah, I was shocked at how warm it has been here. Well, up until a couple days ago when it dropped to 18 degrees and then snowed. Back to real WI weather.

It was in the 60's here today, down from the 70's yesterday. Next week we're supposed to get rain. It does get cold at night which is a bit of a pain for my fruit trees if it gets cold enough I have to run out there and hose them down.

Ain't real WI weather until its 20 below and there's 2 foot of snow on the ground.

In being serious though, I'd really like to see some snow cover before it gets real cold, I'd like to be able to start working again in March.

All we have in Florida at the moment is rain.

A lot of rain.

Enough rain that there are giant puddles everywhere, and traveling down SR50 (Colonial Dr.) and it's construction is a crapshoot at survival at best right now.

And the wind.

Cannot forget the freezing wind that accompanies the cold rain.

I ******* hate this state. Smiley: mad

Why is it surprising to not have snow until now? It's not even winter yet.

Yeah yeah, not until solstice. Whatever.

My personal thermostatic says winter begins in December. ***** your solar calendar based logic.

You live like 50 miles from me, therefore, your winter doesn't start until february.

Clearly, Georgia was just ahead of the curve when the calender was made to have winter in the first three months of the year.

Yeah, I heard you guys have a ton of snow already. There was some talk of a few flakes here yesterday but it turned out to be nothing but cold rain.

Yeah, Georgia is freaky in that we'll get nothing until March, then suddenly we'll have six feet in 24 hours.

Damn climate change!

Friday after work I filled up my windshield wiper fluid, because friday morning they salted the roads and I ran out of fluid. Half way through my drive to work, my windshield was covered in a salty film that wouldn't come off and I couldn't see.

Unfortunately it turns out the jug of fluid I used was half fluid and have water, left over from the summer (mixed to make it last longer). So Today I went to drive and my reservoir is filled with a blue slush...

Get the (orange?) Rain-X washer fluid. I went through a jug of that earlier this year and the windshield still has a nicely coated surface.

Well, it wasn't that the fluid didn't work, it's that I ran out of it half way through the drive to work :)

My washer squirter things haven't worked in forever, so I make do with an old, broken pocket umbrella to wipe off dew from the inside, and outside, of the windshield!

That's the beauty of Rain-X. Even once you run out, it's still there.

I'm starting to feel like a really bad "In Soviet Russia" joke.

In Australia, drought so bad, we're not allowed to put water into car window washer reservoirs.
