Yeah. A typo is totally equivalent to a slobbering half-page exposition on a sports figure's private life.

On a more to the point note... BREAKING NEWS! Tiger just withdrew from his own tournament this weekend and will not play the rest of the year.

Stop hiding buddy and just tell us you had a little bump and grind with someone else... Its ok...we forgive celebrities who come forward and admit to things...

Are you ever going to stop your obstreperous blathering? As far as I can see, no one here cares what Tiger Woods does but yourself. My advice? You should go and find some like-minded people and never post here again.

Would this be under question if his name was Jack Nicklaus?

There is a theory behind this called engineering consent. Make a huge deal out of this encounter (one that many people face) in order to tarnish his image and reputation in the eyes of the public.

It's quite sad that simple matters like this are big news, actually. Had drinking or some kind of "real" (defined however you like) crime been involved, I could see it being a big deal. This is a simple matter of an insurance claim at this point, but you can bet your *** tons of speculation will surround it until the public losses interest.

Both are more athletic than Curling, yet neither are in the Olympics.

I don't. I consider infidelity the biggest sin, the gravest breach of trust, you can commit against a person short of directly injuring them. And once and trust has been breached it can never be brought back.

In this case, it seems both infidelity and bodily injury are involved from various parties. He shouldn't have cheated, she shouldn't have "gone ghetto."

Time for Divorceville.

In your opinion. Some couples manage those storms very well.

The comment was that "we" forgive celebrities for infidelity. Maybe the OP does, but I actually do think less of celebs that are hypocritical about having the "perfect" life and then don't actually practice it. There are tons of celebrities that live quiet little love lives and you never hear anything about them marrying, breaking up, etc, because they themselves don't make a big deal out of it. Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter come to mind; they never bothered to get married, but have three kids together all the same.

I could not care less whether Tiger Woods actually cheated on his wife. But if the floated story is true, it's obvious that his wife cares a great deal.

Back to the OP though: It's none of our business.

While I might agree with you in terms of my own relationship, Tiger Woods allegedly cheating on his super model wife does not erode any trust I ever placed in him. I also don't think that a snap "time for a divorce" judgement is necessary. Personally, I find her scratching his face (allegedly) a much worse offense than his (allegedly) sleeping with someone else.

I also think that I would divorce my husband in a New York minute if he cheated on me, but I know that it would be dependent on the situation. It sort of bothers me, but I know I love my husband enough that I might try to make it work, if I could empathize with the situation. It would take a ton of work and a lot of trust rebuilding, but I know that I would be loathe to give up my marriage.

That's the funny thing about these situations. It's so much more complex than "infidelity is bad, get a divorce."

It's funny, I kept seeing these headlines about Tiger, and his accident, and his potential affair, and I kept thinking to myself "Gah, who the fuck gives a **** about any of this? Some guy had an affair and then a minor car crash, so what, WHO GIVES SHIT?!?!?!?!"

And now I know.

I'm fairly certain he was a reality TV star, with eight kids or something. I'm not 100% sure since my only exposure to him was via tabloid headlines at the checkout.

Tiger Woods, though, I've seen him live. I was close enough to throw something at him during the Masters in the late 90s. (I'd have been ejected from the course considering I was only a concession stand worker, but it was still an overawing experience as I was 16 at the time and he went on to win that year.)

So, he's a bit more real to me than the vast majority of the celebrities that end up in the headlines.
#51 Dec 02 2009 at 11:20 AM Rating: Good
Don't get me wrong. I like Tiger. He's an awesome golfer. It makes ashamed to say it as a Communist, but I also quite enjoy playing golf. I have a handicap and everything. I also quite like women. Not cars so much, but two out of three ain't bad.

I still can't understand why this story is in the public domain. Or why anyone gives a sh*t. "Famous person has minor car crash and maybe an affair". And that's in the news for what, 3 days now? How the fbuck is that possible??
