One thing I'd like to point out: In the "omg u hurt innocent baby spiders" thread, they moan about it costing $500,000 and state that there could be better things to do with that money.
However, if you read about the project, it's actually a good, local, sustainable way to distribute money into an area.
That money went to pay local kids to collect spiders, highly skilled locals to silk-milk em, and local weavers to spin the thread and create the final product. That $500,000 could have sustained a small rural village for the four years, easily. Which, in fact, it did.
