This sparked my interest today

Quote:
Convicted murderer Jane Andrews, a former aide of the Duchess of York, has absconded from an open prison in Kent, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.

Andrews failed to return to East Sutton Park, in Maidstone, on Sunday night.

But is really odd, is why she killed her boyfriend ..

Quote:
Andrews was jailed for life after she fatally beat and stabbed boyfriend Thomas Cressman at their London home when he refused to marry her.

I just hope my boyfriend never thinks I would react in such a way Smiley: eek

Why would someone that has been convicted of murder be allowed to be reclassified into an open prison?

We live in a country where until recently an MP could charge the tax payer for a duck house, the police arrest people simply to put DNA on a database and apparently one of the top 6 acts of the year that deserve prime time Television are 2 vile irish boys called "Jedwood". This act does not surprise me at all.

"Absconding" is a much more British and proper way of escaping.

I think it involves escaping with an extended pinky.

Open prisons are very common in Britain, prisoners get weekend passes....yes even convicted killers. I mean, 'failing to return' is so much more civil than 'absconding' dahling :p
