Hey, I am sitting around playing some guitar and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for great acoustic tunes to learn. Thought I could tap in to the oldie connection here at the asylum.

Some songs I know and like playing to give you an idea of what kind of things to suggest.

Over the Hills and Far away - Zep
Behind Blues Eyes - The Who
Babe I'm gonna leave you - Zep
Blackbird - Beatles
Tangerine - Zep
Say it Ain't So - Weezer
Drive - Incubus

Thanks for any feedback

None of the ones i'm about to suggest even remotly match your listings there, but I'm going to post them anyways. because I can! Hah!

"Erinnerung" from Das boot soundtrack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyIIxCLrMyU&feature=related

"Misorlou" from various things, including pulp fiction.

Not strictly instrumental, but pretty easilly reconizable even without the vocals: Nostradamus by Al Stewert

And of course, you have to learn how to play loui loui.

Some of these might not be quite what you're looking for, but they're all good tunes to learn.

All Along the Watchtower - Bob Dylan
Pretty much anything from CCR
Brown-eyed Girl - Van Morrison
Hesitation Blues - Rev. Gary Davis or Hot Tune/Jorma Kaukonnen
House of the Rising Sun - traditional
Knockin' On Heavan's Door - Dylan
The Needle and the Damage Done - Neil Young
Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out - Jimmie Cox (Clapton's might be easier to find)
Norwegian Wood - The Beatles
Runnin' Down a Dream - Tom Petty
Squeeze Box - The Who
Stairway to Heaven - Zeppelin (yeah, its a cliche at this point, but still fun to play)
Take it Easy - The Eagles
The Weight - The Band
Lawyers, Guns and Money - Warren Zevon
Time Warp - from the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Yer So Bad - Tom Petty
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - The Beatles
No Rain - Blind Melon
Wipe Out - The Surfaris (this is pretty much mandatory)
Ashokan Farewell - Jay Ungar

And now of course, even though I've been concentrating on learning the violin, I now have to break out my Martin and start banging away (that's not a euphemism)

Yeah my friend actually can play this while playing the Harmonica part, its absolutely great.

Great suggestions everyone, lots are ones I know but tones of new ones to consider! Currently working on "Ohh La La" and "Needle and the Damage Done."

Also, if you haven't learned this one deathwysh, try Rain and Fire by James Taylor. There is a few tricky licks that are very James Taylor esque but they sound great.

Also, I do know an acoustic version of free bird which is pretty cool actually. Obviously the solo ain't quite the same as electric though... no where near haha.

Oh... one I should have listed, but forgot:

Little Martha - Duane Allman's tune but coverd by Leo Kottke. Both versions are great.
