...and twice is a coincidence, and three times is a trend, then what would eight times be?

According to this tally, that's how many times FOX News has had to apologize this year for using fake videos incorrect captions, and once even presenting a Republican press release as their own research. Strangely, every single one of these incidences occurred in such a way as to make the Republican party look better/more popular and the Democratic party look worse.

Anyone surprised that this is where Virus gets his information?

For the record, Fox news is crap, and should be considered an initial notification service at best. Sometimes they catch things quicker than others, but their facts... not so much.

The Fox Networks really went downhill about the same time they took Married with Children off the air.

According to some documentaries and articles I've seen, Fox is no better than a lying, slandering propaganda machine.

On the other hand, it has to be admitted that even the most well meaning news media organisations are biased in the way they write up and edit stories. The best they can do is to hire different individual reporters and opinion writers from different ends of the political and social spectrums. Also, getting news from more than one source is always advisable.

I'm not saying Fox News is a front for a club of pedophiles, but isn't it interesting that they send so many reporters to east Asia and isn't it interesting--just the slightest bit--that none of them have been willing to take a polygraph test asserting the contrary? Am I the only one brave enough to ask these questions?

That's true, but only Fox claims to be "fair and balanced" when it most obviously is not. Other news organizations may not admit that they're biased, but at least they don't claim the opposite.

Faux News.

Tells the hard of thinking what to believe.

It works too!

If Fox News is "Fair and Balanced" for going so far as to sue to air incorrect information as actual news, then isn't The Onion the fairest and most balanced news source ever?

I'm not fan of Fox News but, how does this record of 7 mistakes/year compare with other news organizations. Seems it's not that high really considering the amount of News they pump out.

It wasn't seven mistakes, it was seven apologies for using outright fake video and captions to make "their guys" look better.

Frankly, when I'm over at Grandma's house getting my dose of Fox, it's hard to ignore the fact that they spend as much time selling themselves as they do reporting. I don't know that I've ever heard someone on CNN discuss ratings, but I hear it every time we're watching Fox.

Oh yes, assuredly. But actually using a GOP press release for their information goes way beyond bias.
#13ThiefX, Posted: Nov 20 2009 at 9:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What is the Liberal obsession with Fox News? As a conservative I can be honest about it, yes Fox News has a right wing slant but Fox news was started as a answer to NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and etc, their reporting is no worse or no better than any other news outlet with the exception that their ratings dominate everbody else.

Naw, my favorite thing is that whenever a Republican politician is caught in a terrible scandal, they tack on a (D) to the name. By "accident."

And MSNBC quoting the Democrat party line word for word is no problem for you?

If you have a citation of a time when MSNBC presented a Democrat press release as actual data, please do share it. I'll be happy to condemn them too.

But you don't have a cite, because it hasn't happened. You're just trying to deflect from the seriousness of these infractions of the public trust with the old "But but but!!! The other guy is just as bad!"

Cite or GTFO.

The people who'd think negatively of Fox because of this are already aware of what a joke Fox is. The people who watch Fox will have a dozen reasons why it doesn't matter.

Let's be clear here. Fox didn't just use a GOP talking point to highlight a story. They used claims from a GOP press release WORD FOR WORD (including typos) as though it were actual DATA.

So once again, I say: cite, or GTFO. Because I'm not even remotely impressed with the blustering and hemming and hawing.

This sounds a lot like a guy trying to avoid admitting that he can't cite MSNBC slapping a DNC press release up on the screen verbatim and calling it "news".

It's funny how Fox's local news stations are usually pretty good (as was the story in the Zelda clip). I watch Fox's St. Louis station every day. They have absolutely none of the crazy of the national brand.

Yeah, Fox News Chicago seems okay enough (not that I watch much local news -- I'm a paper-reader). It's really the cable outlets that are infested with crazy-beetles.

Someone at the top probably realized that more people would see the outrage than the apology afterwards. With that, the decision was made to reduce their fact-checking... and why not? It increases ratings and decreases costs.

Of course, if the average person was more informed, the ratings would've gone the other way.
