...quitting smoking left me about 10 pounds heavier and the holidays are approaching.

Anyone else dieting that feels like commiserating? I'm using myplate on the livestrong.com website. I like that it has basically every food product and activity ever so it's easy to track what I'm eating (and guilts me out of eating crap since I don't want to plug in that I had 28 servings of hershey miniatures).

The activity database is crazy comprehensive too. I was just laughing that one of the activities you can select is "smoking-sitting quietly". I guess some folks just want to make sure they get every possible calorie burning activity in there.

I haven't had a cigarette, or any tobacco, in almost 2 months. Thanks to BT I bought myself a nifty little vaporizer, and it's working a treat for my other habit.

I haven't gained any weight yet, but would dearly love to.

You can have some of mine!

Congratulations on your success. It's been about a month and a half since I had my last cigarette. It's going really well except for the weight gain...I don't even want one except occasionally after meals and anytime I'm talking to Smash.

I've put on a ton of weight, and it wasn't from quitting smoking. I just eat a lot and have become quite lazy. I don't have much of a plan for eating less, maybe a little. Mostly, I just need to get to the gym more. Which is completely set up and in my basement. Having issues getting out of bed earlier to go work out, but eventually I'll get there.

Maybe they only talk after sex?

The post-coital cigarette is a fine tradition.

I'm on again off again dieting. Last week I was great. This week so far I fail. I had a Whopper yesterday (ugh, SO big).

My goal was to lose 3-4 pounds before Thanksgiving; looks like I might lose 1-2, if lucky. Right now I'm down one.

I'd like an extra 5-10 kilos to be honest, but I'm sure they'll come eventually.

I really don't miss cigarettes, though. I'm so glad I quit. It'sa bit unreal. Even after sex, after meals, after a drink, I don't miss them.

I do really miss joints, though. European "joints", I mean, the mixture of weed and tobacco. Vaporising is fun, but it's just not quite the same. And it's not quite as practical. I do feel a bit like a dry alcoholic sometimes. I'm kinda scared that if I ever touch a joint again, I'll go back to smoking 10-15 cigs a day. It's weird.

I'm not, but I probably should be. While I haven't put back on all the weight I lost while I was pregnant (yeah, you read that right, I LOST weight while I was pregnant; it was weird) I haven't lost any more yet, either. Which is yet another reason I kinda want to get pregnant again.

I should be dieting, but I'm actually not eating enough these days, and I think my body is in starvation mode. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Hilarious. Smiley: frown

I dropped a couple of pounds when I had flu, and so far that seems to be staying off. I wouldn't recommend it as a diet method, though, overall.

I love this time of year; the eating holidays. I always hope that I'll gain some weight but I never really do.

I'm actually thin now. Smiley: yippee

What I need more is to have some kind of exercise routine at home that doesn't require weights or machines, since my broke *** is broke and doesn't have those.

Like, most of what I know is just pushups, sit ups, and some kind of cardio, but I never know if there's a certain order, positions, etc that I should be doing these. Google gives me a fuckton of different opinions, but I'm not sure which one would work. They also end up with weights being included 90% of the time.

Use this siteThere's pages upon pages of exercises to do and if you click on the exercise itself, it shows the motion you're supposed to make.

Catch the swine flu. I'll guarantee you'll lose at least 10 pounds. I can tell that I've lost quite a bit of weight since I got sick.

I went on the "Very Ill person" diet last summer and got rid of ten pounds and now trying to keep it off while regaining my strength back.

I've been on a V8 kick and can down a liter in a day, once or twice a week.

I crave celery and tomatoes, as well as bake potatoes with oil and vinegar, since butter and sour cream is now a no no.

Last week I pigged out on butternut squash and sweet potatoes with onions roasted in olive oil. I think I'll mash the leftovers today and have it for lunch.

Only craving I wish I could fulfill more often is for nice juicy rare roast beef. My mom always cooked prime rib for the holidays, since dad didn't like turkey. With mince meat pie for desert and breakfast the next morning.

I'm so trying that tonight. Most of my meals have been some kind of soup for the last 3 weeks. That just sounds so good.

I gave up fast food over a month ago and switched to wheat bread. Along with working out regularly it seems to be working pretty good. So far I've lost over 20lbs this year, even though I'm basically a desk jockey. I'm still 15lbs away from my goal of 175 but at least I know I'm on the right track.

Something that doesn't cost much and works great are jump ropes. 5 sets of 200 or 4 sets of 250 about 5 times a week. Along with playing ball with the hood rats at college park. Those kids are skinny as hell but I can still score at will regardless.

I'm currently on the "stop eating, you fat f'uck!" diet. It's been going pretty well for the most part. Went from 210 to 180ish over the past couple months. As far as actual dietary intake goes, I've been eating mostly oatmeal, plain yogurt, and raw cow.

One of the hardest parts for me is when the woman is around. I feel like we should eat dinner together, since that's what people do, but I'm not hungry at the time. The extra calories was one of the big parts of what got me up over two bills.

Still working on the smoking bit, but they are just so damn delicious! It's easier for me to say no to a pile of Halloween candy than it is to a pack of smokarettes. Speaking of which, I didn't have a single piece of candy on that holiday.

Doubt it. Internet ads don't always work, with all the fake 411 scams etc. Sometimes you just need a local watering hole, or in this case a gay college court, to find some local ***.

I think I'm getting close to being technically underweight, and I don't know how I keep losing it. I lost 40-45 pounds this year, and I haven't really consciously changed anything.

:(

We've consciously decided to eat more vegetarian meals and fish based meals. The goal is to cut the number of meals we eat that includes actual dead animal to 1-2 a week, max. This is primarily to cut down on the amount of artificial junk and manufactured hormones we ingest.

Today's lunch was a mashup of cous cous, chickpeas, and canned tuna, with tons of herbs and spices to make it yummy. Last night's dinner was salmon filets with basil mashed potatos and spiced pears. Tonight's dinner will be mock pastaroni with Gimme Lean fake!sausage.

Tomorrow is my birthday, though, so it's a steak day. Smiley: nod

Dealing with Smash daily would make me want to smoke.
