Yea, that's always a great lie. Never fails either, people always fall for it...hook, line and sinker.

Yeah, except Obama never promised he wasn't going to raise taxes. He flat out said that he was going to get rid of the tax cuts Bushie Jr. gave the rich.

He did for certain brackets. He usually specified that he was talking about income taxes but there's one quote of him saying "any taxes" that the detractors use as their big Gotcha. I'm personally not opposed to higher taxes for select things so this isn't a major area of concern for me.

The Dems have control of congress and the white house. The american people clearly see that all they're about is padding their big donors pockets and could really care less about the economy and rising unemployment rate. I find it interesting that varus capitalizes "Dems" but doesn't capitalize "american".

Also, for the 1000th time, the phrase you are looking for is "couldn't care less". Used in a sentence: "The entire country couldn't care less what varus thinks"

I'm going to get my copy of the book signed by her tomorrow in Orlando. It's five miles from where I am living at the moment, so I figured "Why not?".

I haven't read the book yet, but I'll probably have the time to do so while I'm waiting in line tonight for my wristband.

I got Huckabee's book signed when he came by also, though it got stolen from me (along with everything else in my apartment). It's a chance to meet a political figure, even though I do not quite agree with her on nearly everything (except perhaps needing more flexibility with NCLBA?).

Could sell the signed book on eBay though.

Heh... he's talking about some CNBC article saying if you include the underemployed and those who have given up and left the labor pool, the number is 17.5%. Which might well be accurate -- underemployment's been an issue since the 2001 recession. There's a quote at the bottom which amused me since it's some (you would assume business savvy) guy saying "Full employment is 4%. Peoplea re asking 'How will we get from 10% to 4%?' Well, think about going from 17% to 4%."

Erm... except that 4% number is based off the traditional unemployment metric which considers underemployed people to be "employed" and people outside of the pool to just not count. Going from 17% to 4% requires more than just work... it requires jumping to a different chart.

The poor and middle class, as a general rule, probably don't spend a lot of time on CNBC.com

I'm part of the 17.5% - I'm too stubborn to take a job that isn't worth my time, so I'm just not working at all and mooching off my husband for now.

I have positive rehire status at both the places I worked last, but frankly, I deserve better than what they can pay me, and the stress wasn't worth it.

As are most liberal Democrats.
I only have an issue with her being "Too good" for a job, if she's taking from the system, but if her hubby is paying for her, then who cares?

Not I. My only beef is with people who rely on govn assistance and then whine about what kind of job they deserve.

And Cat, apparently.

To be honest, it's partly the same reason why if I lost my current job ($13.35/hr, probably going to be $13.48 or $13.61/hr on 1/1) I wouldn't go back to fast food ($8.40/hr). Not just the loss of pay, but that you seriously couldn't pay me enough to do that again (I put up with it for seven years).

I kind of wish I had the spare money to go after the requirements for becoming a CPA, to be honest.
