Palins bookFollow

#1 Nov 18 2009 at 8:40 AM Rating: Sub-Default
Anyone planning on reading?

Oh and more from the liberal media;

Quote:
When the former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor wrote her autobiography, the AP found a copy before its release date and assigned 11 people to fact check all 432 pages.

Quote:
Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the treatment Palin's book received appears to be something new for the AP. The organization did not review for accuracy recent books by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, then-Sen. Joe Biden, either book by Barack Obama released before he was president or autobiographies by Bill or Hillary Clinton. The AP did more traditional news stories on those books.

Not planning on reading it. The reviews have been interesting so far, but it does sound like she has a major martyr complex.

Palin's book was much more hyped then the others mentioned and involves a campaign story actively at odds with that told by the McCain campaign. I'm not sure why they'd think it's an apt comparison to other bo--- oh, that's right. It's Fox.

Not planning on reading it in full. The experts I've seen seem like a bunch of her saying "Everything was everyone else's fault".

I can't take the chance that the stuff I read about her being linked to Scientology is correct. Even if I only read about it on Cracked.

Also, she's a disgrace to the Republican Party and I really think McCain's campaign ****** up when they chose her to run with him.

I'll be getting it, if for no other reason than the fact that she is coming to my temporary-town for a book signing.

I've heard a lot of differing opinions about it, and I'm not sure what to think at this point. Just going to get the book for now, I guess.

Of course they are scrutinizing her book. No one is convinced she can actually read, let alone write.

Not especially. I guess it bothers me that Fox hasn't mentioned how many factcheckers were assigned to books by or about McCain, Bush, Cheney, etc. Well, they did say this:
Fox wrote:
The attraction to Palin doesn't appear to be partisan, since AP didn't fact-check recent political tomes by Republicans Rudy Giuliani or Newt Gingrich.

So... umm... yeah. Or somethin'.

It bothers me more that someone whose credibility is so suspect that it requires 11 fact-checkers is considered a serious political contender.

If she didn't want her claims to be subject to scrutiny, she shouldn't have been caught in so many outrageous and huge whoppers.

But, for arguments sake, let's say some of those 11 complaints are credible; does that mean the rest of the book is accurate?

Beats me. I assume most of the book is opinion or unprovable allegations. If she says "We wanted to buy a unicorn", you'd have a hard time documenting that she didn't.

Although I can't stand seeing Palin's face or hearing her talk, I truly hope she is the Republican presidential candidate in 2012. That way there can be more updates to her site: http://www.palinaspresident.us/

Quote:
Yeah because fact checking the presidents book isn't nearly as important as Palins.

It is kind of strange that no one on the right or left can seem to let this harpy go. Watching Olberman has become an incessant anti-infomercial on Palin. Whatever the case, it doesn't change the fact that she is a stupid liar.
