I hope that he can feel enough respect for any world leader to express that it in something as simple as a bow. However, that is not likely the case.

I was listening to some of Obama's talks in China. I liked this, "expression, and worship, of access to information and political participation" were "universal rights".

You don't have an issue with him shaking their hand, do you?

I was going to say "The GOP world leaders" and then I remembered that there are none.

Of course not, he was patronizing him.

Is there any reason you think this is true other than your delusional and psychopathic drive to impose your will onto those militarily weaker than you?

Gosh, you're completely and utterly right. How can the leaders of the world take the most powerful man in politics seriously if he bows? Jeez, if he bows instead of just shaking hands, he might as well just be bending America over for a giant assfucking!

Just think how hard this record's going to be to beat? He's not even through the first year of his presidency and he's already beaten the record. I think this one goes down in the books as an all time great, like the last time someone hit .400 in baseball. Something repeatable, but not to be done in our lifetime again.

Because US presidents should always assumer a subservient position when meeting with world leaders?

See here is the rub that I know you're incapable of grasping. The United States is not the only nation in this world. It is not the only nation worthy of respect in the world. Other nations have leaders, who lead nations with varied populations, some proportions of which think like you do. They believe, as you do, that their nation should not have to give up ground, ever, on even something as insignificant as a ceremonial greeting, because they are better than the other. Unfortunately, lots of times, the United States presupposes that other nations think this way, so let's take that as a supposition.

Do you know what happens when two nations, both of whom have collective egos larger than Jupiter, meet for diplomacy? If you're lucky, nothing at all happens. If you aren't lucky, they start to hate each other more. If you're really unlucky, people start dying in an international **** waving contest.

Ironic, that the wanted scenario for your ideal of dominance and pride, born from virility, should reduce to impotence at its best case.

Yes, if for no other reason but to "appear" as if your country gives a flying fuck what the rest of the world thinks, regardless of whether or not it does.

I'm sorry, in Japanese culture, everyone bows to everyone. It's a gesture of respect.

Now, if he wanted to show subservience, he'd kowtow.

Obama is not the King of the World. Why shouldn't he treat the leaders of other countries some measure of respect?

Part of what he's trying to do is subtly refute the accusations of U.S. arrogance. And he's succeeding.

I don't think he's trying to do anything. He's just using the customary greeting of the country.

The customary greeting for US presidents to use when meeting Japanese world leaders is to vomit on them.

It would be horrible, but he'd feel so much better afterward.

In this case, you are wrong. As long as that is the culture and it is done properly, there is nothing wrong with it. A bow of respect doesn't have to mean a bow of subservience.
