My immediate thoughts and prayers are with the wounded and with the families of the fallen and with those who live and serve at Fort Hood.

These are men and women who have made the selfless and courageous decision to risk and at times give their lives to protect the rest of us on a daily basis.

It's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas. It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an army base on American soil.

I've spoken to secretary Gates, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, and I will continue to receive a constant stream of updates as new information comes in.

We are working with the Pentagon, the FBI, the department of homeland security all to ensure that Fort Hood is secure and we will continue to support the community with the full resources of the federal government.

In the meantime, I would ask all Americans to keep the men and women of Fort Hood in your thoughts and prayers.

We will make sure that we get answers to every single question about this horrible incident and I want all of you to know that as commander in chief, there's no greater honour but also no greater responsibility for me than to make sure that the extraordinary men and women in uniform are properly cared for and that their safety and security when they're at home is provided for."

Thirteen dead? What the hell are you training your soldiers for if they get that kind of ratio against an enemy combatant?

And although he may have a vaguely middle eastern name, when he filled out his forums to join the Army, he listed no religious preferences.

So if he was a Muslim, it's something he picked up after he joined the army.

The soldiers were unarmed, being in a facility for pre-deployment medical exams and vaccinations.

Quote:
the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner."

and the reason I started another thread is because I didn't feel Nobby truly expressed what went down. I can understand his "don't give a damn" attitude considering that's how most liberal democrats feel about this.

You know the funniest part of that link is the extreme weight given to the irrelevant local elections. /shrug, I didn't see any details or videos in that article, it was all just speculative foaming at the mouth. And given the BS that he was spouting about the elections, I have to say I think the writer has a pretty weak understanding of politics in general.

I find you associating absolutely anything negative that happens in this country, really in this world, with Barack Obama, disturbing.

I think you are unhealthily obsessed with the man. Maybe jot down a note to bring this up with your therapist.

I know you're being sarcastic, but I said something yesterday that I think bears repeating here.

I, almost prophetically, wrote:

Just to get it out of the way, insert token comments about former presidents, goats and school books.

Now Varrus can smugly declare that it's all about Bush with us liberals.

Brown,

Did I blame Obama for this tragedy? That you think that's the same as saying Obama doesn't give a sh*t, that's what's disturbing.

And you, as much as anyone, analyzed W's reaction to whatever happened while he was in the office. Now you don't seem to care about how the president handles himself in these sorts of situations? Case in point; W flies on to a deck with the banner 'mission accomplished' that's been put up to signfy victory in Baghdad and you use that as a way of attacking not only the military strategy he had taken but his very intelligence. So yes when something terrible happens I am going to analyze how Obama reacts and carries himself. When he's giving 'shout-outs' right before he has to go on nationally to console and reassure a nation I find that offensive.

No, I mean another person. Because his being Muslim had nothing to do with this rampage, except possibly cause him some cognitive dissonance because he's working for a country which seems to hate his people. Not that you can see that, of course; all the Muslims are basically the same to you.
