This raises an interesting wrinkle in the theory that if students were armed, the recent school shootings would have been ended before so many people had died.

Well in all fairness, wasn't the number of dead two or three times this at Virginia Tech? Sort of sad that our students can do a proper murder spree better than our soldiers. Makes me wonder what they're spending my tax dollars on.

True, 32 vs 12 deaths at this point, although we also don't know how the shooters were subdued yet.

'Course, I don't really want to trivialize the event by turning it into a policy debate, or make the foolish mistake of extrapolating a freak event into some broader conclusions. I'll let other posters do that instead.

From the sound of it, the shooting took place in a facility where soldiers receive physicals & stuff because they're either preparing to be deployed or are returning from deployment. So most of the men weren't armed and I don't know how many guards or whatever were around.

There was, and I'll happily hope his opinion is a minority one, a guy on the radio ******** up a storm and blaming liberals for the soldiers not being armed at the time. I'm not sure how extensively the liberal machine has affected protocol in the armed forces in regards to having a gun during your medical exam but this guy seemed pretty sure of it.

Well, he was an officer after all. Had he been enlisted, I bet he would have bagged 3 times the amount easily.
