To answer the original question: no, I can't think of a single time when I've been condescended to in a tech store. In fact many of the sales people who have helped me have been women.

Electronics stores, where the merchandise is more on the lines of TVs and Blu-Rays, yeah, maybe. Still can't think of a specific example, though.
Yeah, me neither.

I also like colored stuff, though I don't really see the manufacturers swapping out color for quality as the article implies. My gaming headphones are pink. The color reminds my husband and son that they are mine and hopefully cuts down on them getting put on their big heads and stretching them out.

Except they are. These were the examples in the OP, which is what I was referring to as I clearly stated in my post.

PC World is telling me my world is pink (it has not been pink since I was 7) and I need a new laptop to match my outfit (it would never even occur to me to match my outfit with my technology). Samsung is asking me, “What Colour is my Life?” (hello?) and Dell is telling me that technology is like candy (do me a favour).

These are aimed at teenagers.
Smiley: nod I think so too. Teens have always been the marketing target for 'new stuff' as they have the disposable income.

Women are advertised to like we are all 16 year olds who want Hello Kitty purses and glitter lip gloss. Men are advertised to like every product ever bought will get them tits and ***. And both of us are talked to by advertisers as if we have no brain in our heads at all.

And yet it works. And it works significantly better than marketing in such a way that assumes your customers are marginally intelligent human beings.

Right. Which is why if you object to it, attempt to make it not work.

I personally actively avoid/nonproccess advertisements.

Avoiding advertisements (which I do, as much as I can. Who doesn't?) doesn't mean that it's going to stop them.

I'm unsure what the point you're getting at is...

You'd be surprised how lucrative that is. Or not.

It makes them marginally less cost effective.

They sell gaming accounts and virtual gold for quite the profit.

Most teens get a part time job. Even in the up-scale town I raised my kids most teens had at least a semi part-time job. Even babysitting and lawn-mowing monies are totally disposable to them. But yeah, also allowance.
