He was one of my heroes when I was a lil budding anthropologist groupie.
Still, 100 years is a good run by anyone's standard. What an amazing mind he had.

I have to admit, I thought he was already dead. I read "Tristes Tropiques" as a teenager and it sorta blew my mind. I really wanted to become an anthropologist after that. But then I realised that if I studied anthropology I would probably end up being an anthropology teacher, so I gave up on it.

He was the reason I discovered Emile Durkheim when I was but a sprat. Then I worked my way back and over to one side and found Konrad Lorenz, and that crazy old man kept me entertained for years.
