My halloween pic:

I started a jug of mead a-brewing last sat night. This is my first attempt at fermenting. The concoction is currently bubbling away nicely.

Smiley: inlove I love Mead, its expensive though.

With my love of beer you'd think I'd know how to brew anything by now but nope Smiley: frown Is Mead a complicated process? Beer can get pretty damn testy and tricky.

No, mead is easier than wine in that you don't have to deal with a must. You just add the stuff and set it to brewing. I used a recipe I found at Storm The Castle. The guy has a bunch of mead making videos, as well as how-to videos on making catapults, paper castles, trebuchets... and more.

Good mead really needs to age awhile. I spose thats why it's so expensive. You can get an okay bottle of mead for ten bucks, but if you spend twenty it is truly twice as good. I'm planning on tapping into this batch next Halloween.

...and think I might try making some cranberry wine for thanksgiving 2010.

I should start brewing my own mead, since I can guarantee that I'm not about to add sulfites to it. My biggest complaint when at many events is the is I can't drink the mead, same with hard cider due to the bi-sulfites.

No, not this christmas...but next. Smiley: smile

It seems that the rate it's fermenting at now, I'll be racking it in another week or two. Secondary fermentation will go on til it's clear. Not really sure how long that will take but from the sounds of it, it will be another 2-3 months. At that point it can be bottled.

Which spawn was she incubating at the time though? If it was the air freshener you can feel a bit younger.
