Dirty Stinking Government HealthcareFollow

#1 Oct 22 2009 at 1:41 PM Rating: Excellent
I went to the county health department today. I filled out a few forms, waited about five minutes, and got an H1N1 nasal vaccination. I paid nothing, didn't have to present an insurance card or even proof of residence.

Who says government health care is bad again? Smiley: tongue

You should know they only gave it to you free because it's a conspiracy to implant a GPS and/or mind control chip in you and/or kill you.

You're going to hear a conservative make the argument that although it can be good for your health, ultimately it is bad for the economy and thus liberals are silly. Never mind that national systems don't just cost less to those covered, but they cost less overall. The tax "Burden" you would face is lower than what you're paying now. Never mind that is an inefficient use of economic resources to not utilize a system that both performs better and costs less. Never mind that the extra money consumers saved they would be able to spend on goods and services to support business that are serving useful functions.

So yeah.

I really do like our county health department. In addition to woman's reproductive health, vaccinations, and preventative care, they also offer low cost services for cholesterol, diabetes, and other common health issues for the community. They are located in the heart of the downtown/older neighborhoods, and everyone there is friendly, courteous, and respectful.

The only place I've been treated as well is the clinic I use for my family doctor. Every other private doctor or hospital I've gone to has been cold, impersonal, and made me sit around for hours only to charge me an arm and a leg . . .
#6ThiefX, Posted: Oct 22 2009 at 3:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Im glad you like it so much because if Obama and the rest of his socialist/communist pals get thier way you will spend a lot of time there waiting in line.

Five minutes for a nasal shot? In a private health care system, that'd be done in just 20 seconds or so.

Oh...

We live in Rep Paul Broun's district, so he apparently succeeded in convincing enough redneck yokels 'round here that it was a government conspiracy to infect them.

Sucks to be them! Great for people like me with no tinfoil. Smiley: nod

I think there are many legitimate beliefs/methods/strategies of living healthy that warrant a serious questioning of whether the vaccine is worth injecting into your body in the long run that don't have anything to do with tinfoil hat conspiriacies, and many doctors would are wary of recommending it.

What I want to know is; with all of the people in America so opinionated and interested in debating their health-care, why are we the most unhealthy group of people in the world?

What if the political party that measured as the healthiest got to decide what to do about healthcare?

I don't know about your locale, but here if attendance drops below 75% at schools, they shutdown. Locally, half a dozen districts have shut down.

Even if not dangerous, even if they won't die, it still hinders normal operations. Vaccinating helps stop the spread of the illness. So if you are going to be around 100s of people in close proximity every day, might as well make yourself immune.

I think you're confusing the flu vaccine that people get out of paranoia each year to the H1N1 vaccine. H1N1 is a specific strain of flu; swine flu. The regular flu shot (which I have never gotten myself) is simply a guess as to which strain will be in vogue for the flu season.

Im very aware of what it is, I am a paramedic and the H1N1 shot was offered to me weeks ago. I turned it down. Not because I think that Vaccines are some govn experiment but because the swine flu is just that the flu.

Every few years the media spreads fear and panic by reporting that some deadly whatever is gonna spread around the globe and kill us all and every time people like Cat who are perfectly healthy and young go stand in line to get a shot that gives them a case of the very flu they were scared the death of.

I personally won't get the vaccine because I have made a point of trying to live healthy and eat/drink things that build up my immune system. I'm a bit uncomfortable with other people playing around with the biochemistry of my body and would rather take my chances with my natural immune system. I wouldn't want any artificial internal body parts or invasive surgery either. When it's time to die it's time to die, there's nothing wrong with it.

You do know that the reason the vaccine was a priority is that your immunodefense system does not target the H1N1 virus as a threat, right? It will just glide through a strong immune system unmolested.

And why don't you like medicine? Seems frankly silly.

I believe that proving such a thing would be ******* impossible anyway, considering that it's a negative. I believe you're retarded for not attempting to hedge your bets though.

Every year I have gotten a flu shot, I did NOT get the flu.

The few years I didn't get a flu shot, I DID get the flu.

Interestingly, I failed to get my required pertussis booster when I was 20, and I got whooping cough back in 2005. That sucked.

I know you were talking about the swine flu vaccine but this mentality is why we're falling under herd immunity thresholds for pertussis in parts of the country (I'm sure other "eradicated" diseases are under threshold too)
