What is mind boggling is that you don't realize how intricately God and a disenchantment with your life are intertwined in terms of historical theology. Hah. Go look at an Egyptian tomb some time. One that hasn't already been looted, that is.

If these people you speak of hold stuff to be the end goal sure. But i've noticed that people who believe God has blessed their life tend to give back in time and money to those in need, mostly through church. When you take away a persons ability to achieve a certain level of comfort you also take away the probability that they will donate their time/money to worthy causes.

So...the Church supports welfare, huh? It's okay when you're doing it but God forbid a heathen Democrat is in need!

Typical hypocrisy.

Different sort of millenarianism, and different sort of afterlife.

The Egyptians thought the afterlife was basically just like normal life, which was why they packed their bags before leaving. I'm not exactly a theology student, but I'm pretty sure Christianity explicitly holds to an immaterial concept of Heaven where material wealth means nothing. Camels going through the eye of a needle and all that.

The conflict between Christian teachnings and massive accumulation of wealth is readily apparent, but if it didn't stop popes from pimping out the Vatican in the 16th century, it won't stop them today.

And you're lucky that I read that much. Especially considering 90% of what you write is garbage.

So now I have you admitting that you read at least 90% of my stuff! I beat the average! Smiley: clap

You're missing a gold mine in the other 50%!

Besides, you said 90% of what I write, not of what you read. You try so hard to make it sound like you don't care but we all know you hope and pray for my posts Smiley: smile

Dunn is almost certainly done.

According to an article in the CSM today...
CSM wrote:
Dunn is a rarity in the political world – someone who did not want to work in the White House and who is eager to escape from the center of power. She reportedly was Obama’s first choice to be communications director but turned him down so she could spend more time with her young son and her husband, Bob Bauer, the president’s personal attorney.

After the president’s original choice, Ellen Moran, left to become chief of staff to the Commerce secretary, Dunn agreed to take the job on an interim basis and is very open about wanting to be done by year’s end.
...so I suppose this will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. I'm sure Beck will claim victory when she leaves though and act as though he was the driving force behind it.

Can I call 'em or can I call 'em? Smiley: laugh

The White House just lost its chief media strategist and Fox News just lost its best P.R. tool. Anita Dunn, the outspoken and controversial communications aide to President Obama has announced today that she'll be leaving her post; her deputy, Dan Pfeiffer is to replace her. Though Dunn's title was communications director, at times, "Fox News Basher" seemed more appropriate as she seemingly and bizarrely began to publicly wage war on the network roughly a month ago.
[...]
Liberal groups are already spinning Dunn's announcement, insisting that her role as communications director "was always meant to be temporary."

I love how they always remain purposefully ignorant of why anyone could be upset with what they pass off as reporting.
