TSA agents remove a child from his mother's custody contrary to their own regulations

Quote:

My son was taken from me by the TSA agents at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport yesterday.

He was taken away from me and OUT OF MY SIGHT because his pacifier clip went off when I carried him through the metal detector.

According to the Transportation Security Administration website, "We will not ask you to do anything that will separate you from your child or children."

The broader powers granted the TSA since 9/11 coupled with insufficient staffing and lack of competent oversight was bound to lead to situations where the presumed demi-god status of TSA agents resulted in abuse of authority and abandonment of proper procedure. Anyone with a modicum of common sense and foresight knew it was inevitable.

They're still missing weapons slipped through by secret flyers testing the success of the checks, but by golly, they're all over those scary pacifier clips.

I feel so much safer.

Babies should be stowed in the same place they put pets. The only thing worse on a plane than an armed terrorist is a pissed off baby.

The terrorists won several years ago. I thought this was common knowledge.....

And pacifiers? Yuck.

Smiley: laugh Amen.

I suppose that, if she didn't go through it sounding as though her child was whisked away in the night by guerilla rebel fighters, I might be more favorably inclined.

I liked how after "You get the authorities! Grrr!" she had the option of talking to the TSA supervisor but, after finally recovering her precious baby that was ripped from her arms by government thugs (well, the baby that she handed to them)... it was more important for her to catch her flight Smiley: rolleyes

Yeah, the TSA seems to have fucked up and no defense for that. But no harm done except for her overblown reaction.

She seems to be an insane person, which is why it's not surprising they ran her through extra checks.

While I understand being pissed about them taking her "baby" (who could talk, by the way, what the hell is it still doing sucking on a pacifier?). She sounds like she could use a good smacking around.

I have a degree in security and intel, and so am more likely more comfortable with the idea of security checkpoints and whatnot than many. that being said, the TSA is completely ******* The background checks they performed when they transferred all the independant TSA contractors to the TSA for a 50% sallary increase? in most case still have not happened, and where they are attempting to do so, theya re running years late. Airport screaners have so far in the last 5 years failed 80% of the tests that the FAA and higher up TSA officials have attempted. 8 out of every 10 suitcases with a bomb is getting through. Yet they concentrate on the smaller things like plastic bottles that might contain enough binary explosive to maybe put a small hole in the side of the airplane, causing momentary discomfort, shoes that generally wold only work if pressed against the window segments since the lavoritories are being lined with kevlar now to prevent people from going inside and blowing **** up (literally) and other stupid things.

Let everyone on the plane have a pocket knife. I garuntee you if a terrorist pulls a boxcutter and tries to take an airplane ever again and the passengers are armed, they won't be successfull. and scrap the TSA and replace it with local police jurisdiction, and give them guns.

Of course not. Guns are the only logical self-defense here.

I think the best route is to seal the pilots off from everyone else and gas the passenger cabin.

It's a good idea. Just a harmless knockout gas. Then the pilot can land and they can take care of the issue.

Spinter Cell tells me that there are safety issues with releasing knockout gas into enclosed spaces where it can build to lethal levels.

Also pretty sure that Ugly wasn't talking knockout gas.

El Al, Israeli airlines, already has seperate entrances to the plane for flight crew and passengers. Theres no connection between the passenger cabin and the flight deck. Its been that way for years.

That cuts out a lot of problems. Hijackers could still take passengers hostage I guess, which might still be a more sticky, problematic problem than taking people hostage on the ground, just because it's a generally more physically dangerous environment.

On the serious joke side, I so wouldn't mind if all passengers were knocked out asleep/unconscious for the length of all passenger flights. The wonderful view doesnt' compensate for the cramped quarters.

Wow... if parents aren't becoming attention whores by hiding their kids in the rafters while they send up balloons, they're attention whoring by making up "The gummint stole MY BABY!!!!" stories on Mommy-Blogs.

Gay marriage with its "no natural children" is sounding better and better for the US.

Assuming that's her (and not only does the text before the video claim that she confirmed it was her, but also her previous post "My Ladies" or whatever shows pics which look similar to the video footage) She deserves a kick to the ****. Some of the comments are humorous: ZOMG SHE'S IN A CAGE or IT TOOK AN WHOLE 8 MINUTES, WTF!!!

Who wants to bet she mysteriously stops posting to her blog?

Well, she hasn't posted a follow-up or retraction yet. I'm sure she'll have some excuse for why the stories don't jive. Maybe too many "emergency Xanax".

The next days entry said that yes, there were some inconsistencies, but also that there was some footage missing from the video that was released. I imagine the truth is somewhere in between.
